Jek, I know Im late to the party here, but this is some good stuff!
Just a thought, there was no scripture for getting in Noah's Ark. I bet those that decided to avoid the ark because there was no scripture had a change of heart....a bit too late.
Sigh, Ferdinand, come on...........there was no written word in Noah's day, they were writing it!
Joseph had no scripture that said "don't commit adultery" either, but something in his spirit told him to leave Potiphar's wife alone.
In our day, we have the "forever settled in heaven" word of God. And, if we start accepting things that do not jive with scripture, pretty soon we're believing that only 144,000 will go to heaven, and that an angel named Moroni came and gave another testament!

how do you know they didnt have some scripture? Just because it isnt in scripture doesnt mean there isnt any scripture.
PS. Jeks post is solid. It doesnt mean we need to stop reading the bible.
dont pick on me today bro, I am feeling very moderate!

I hear Noah after he was in the Ark & the waters were rising, that he looked over the side and he saw a bunch of "Canoeismatics" paddling but to no avail!
Classic! Lots of movement, lots of activitive, but short on substance.... canoes dont do well in big swells....
I LOVE IT!

That's fine, I'll not confuse you with the facts!

I heard Robert Henson use this term in a General Conference message back in the 70s, I think.

Must be the same source, I don't write all my stuff!
Well, no offense, but since it's not original to you, I can say that I thought it was extremely corny back then, too.

You're right, nothing can be proven, except for the fact that Jhn 10 tells us we can, and we do, KNOW His voice.
To me, and this is my own personal opinion, a prophecy given out, or a prediction, means absolutely nothing. Nostradomus or Jeanne Dixon was made famous by their predictions and prophecies. But, God's sheep do not follow them because God's Sheep know His Voice and follow Him. Whether a prophecy is fulfilled or not isn't necessarily a sign of a prophet of the Lord- it is the content of their message that proves their office as prophet. Fulfilled prophecy lend credence to the annointing that rests upon the prophet, but it is their message that validates the ministry of the prophet . And, if we are truly God's sheep, we will hear, not their voice, but the Word that speaks through them.
Jhn 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
Jhn 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
Jhn 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
What about the people who think they know God's voice, but don't really? What about Deanna Laney, who killed her children on God's orders? I bet she thinks she knows God's voice. And who can say, really? This command is consistent with God's Word. There is precedent: Abraham was ordered to kill his son. God didn't stop Deanna, though, at the last moment.
And the NT doesn't help much. Matt 19:29 tells us we'll be rewarded if we forsake "houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children".
So, who can say? Maybe God did tell Deanna Laney to kill her children.
