like who can take communion and who can't.
now they are fighting over whether a lesbian can be a pastor etc.

These are "real" issues.

Advertisiting of TV is so trivial and minute.....yet some act like it is the destruction of the UPCI. Let me tell you what, destruction of the UPCI would be if the latter of what you talked about was accepted by the UPCI. At least there would be some reason for the "battle."
