(b) The term "conduct unbecoming a minister" shall be taken to mean any conduct of a moral, financial, or ethical nature that would cause a reproach upon the ministry.
Prior ... there had to be a FLAGRANT violation ... usually some type of due process or act of disfellowship now anyone who is under question morally, financially and ethically is a blacklist candidate ...

Morally is pretty cut and dry ...

but ethically and financially ... what are the measures for this????

Examples:

So if someone is in arrears for a loan for let's say 6 months to a few people ... DOES HE GET THE GAS MASK?

So a group decides that a pastor is not attending enough district functions to be unethical .... DOES HE GET THE GAS MASK?

Same stats as for Architects and Nurses.

Young people are not going for white collar jobs it seems.

The two pastors were kind and understanding, though I felt like scum. I didn't go cause I love my District Sup and my going would have caused him big turmoil.

One of the pastors that complained was a big mover in the org and he didn't want to deal with the fall out.

Sad.
Not sad...TRAGIC!!

I can understand the org. wanting to protect the pulpit by keeping those convicted of moral failure out but this of course goes far beyond that in prohibiting those who disagreed with the articles of faith, etc.

I guess it is an important part of maintaining the distinctions in their mind though.

Its becoming like organized crime, IMO
So Dan are you saying here that District Boards are like Organized Crime?

I'm saying the processes that are being proposed and instituted have similarities to those in organized crime and corporate America during the age of Robber Barons... A simple-minded observation and opinion, perhaps.

Ok...let me try one more time...

I lived this so I would think I have some kind of authority on the subject...

There was nothing morally, ethically, or financially in my life to go out under question with...but the DISTRICT BOARD OF OK WITHOUT DUE PROCESS, WITHOUT AN ACT OF DISFELLOWSHIP, AND WITHOUT EVEN CONTACTING ME voted...and I say again....THEY VOTED...to put me "UNDER QUESTION"...

When this was inquired about by my friend who had the exact same thing happen to him in the same board meeting...the district official said, "We don't have to tell you what the question was...someone just had to raise his hand and say I have a question about this man's handeling of the Articles of Faith...

AS for me...the only thing they might of had is that a month before one of the ladies on my platform was seen in town with slacks on...at that point, my wife had never worn pants other than pj's...she had never cut her hair...and niether did 99% of the ladies in our church....

What they put me out under question for, the letter stated that they had decided "I had violated the Articles of Faith"....what my violation was...I do not know, and neither did they...they just assumed I had....

Again DA...this was several years ago...the under question stipulation has always been set by a VOTE of the DISTRICT BOARD....and they don't even need any real proof or interviews to do it....

There was no flagrant violation of anythng on my part...but I went out "Under question" as voted on by the District Board of OK...
