I have seen some tests done and AMD processors beat Intel processors hands down. Dell has finally wised up and starting using the best processors. I have one Intel processor that is so pathetic, but I knew that Intel's were that bad though. My HP is really awesome with a AMD Turion X2 processor that beats my Intel processor hands down.

The only thing that I don't like about HP's is that they have the recovery on the HD, which is pretty stupid and that is one of the things that I like Dell's, because they have a image DVD with their systems.

Rhoni,

I always buy Dells and buy the most extended warranty possible. I just abuse my laptops and know that it will need various repairs in the future.

They've been pretty good to us in the past.

HP's have extended warranties too and if I drop mine and break it, I get a new one.

I bought two new Dell's this year with our tax money because it was time to upgrade, plus I knew I was going to start working from home. One is an Optiplex 320 and the other is a Latitude. They both came with 3 year warranties and I have been very happy with both of them. I gave my old Optiplex (which I got through Ebay for a couple of hundred dollars) to my son and my old Inspiron to my wife (who never ever gets on the internet for anything)

O.K. guys thank-you for the advice, I see I need:

Dell
2GB
Windows XP [which I know I need for work]
don't buy at Best Buy
warranty

Did I forget anything? I'm a geek but not a techno...

Blessings, Rhoni

They have been shown to be selling returns on those mark down racks. She is not a technophobe. My Linux comment was tic, and I think she should avoid BB like the plague.

My husband is a tech.He used to work for BB.I agree.

You know Dell Computers are now at Wal Mart stores! I think that was supposed to start today. I don't know that I would go that route.
