You probably ran across the same "Christian" TV network I did when in NC two or three years ago. They were having a telethon and the guy trying to pull in the money was an exUPC guy who was the biggest embarressment to me. I was so red in the face and angry after watching for a few minutes it took me forever to get to sleep that night in my hotel room.
He was pushing the prosperity message and appealing to poor folks on Social Security and welfare to "plant a seed" to see it returned a bazillion fold or whatever. Even had prefilmed "commercials" showing some poor elderly black woman sending in her check and how she was blessed with a car or something. It literally made me sick to my stomach.

I think God has a special place for those kind of people that use His name to get money from poor people for earthly gain.

To preach prosperity in balance is one thing.
To me they are becoming money changers.
Put your mony in th plate and watch your life get better.
They are stealing the idea from the Government.
It is more like a chain letter.
You give and then look at how our church is blessed.
I say the whole church world needs to stand still and mail me $1.00 from every believer.
I would then find prosperity.
If they preached the cross more often.
More folks would be in the pews and the amount of money needed to run our big business churches of today would flow in on Sunday.
We are asked to give more and with the bigger ticket prices of our Sunday show called church, we get a B-movie performance.
Preach the Gospel and they will come...
