Both my grandmothers were wonderful cooks. My mom's mom actually owned a bakeshop of her own at one time and did that to earn a living for her and her 4 girls and my mom's sister owned a few restaurants through the years.
My mother is a great cook too! She taught me most of what I know when it comes to cooking & baking but there are some things she makes I've never been able to make quite as well as she can.

Not really evidently like myself you are of mexican descent..and food like that sounds great ('cept for chile relleno's ) but arroz con pollo?
Now THAT is the best don't forget the refritos and home made flour tortillas- ahhhhh, heavenly food indeed!
Not for tomorrow though I'm sticking with turkey and fixins., love it, and only do this once a year, the enchiladas and tamales can wait for another day.OH tonight we got the COLD weather down here that others up north have been reporting EXCELLENT! I LOVE this kind of weather for BAKING and it is appropriate for a more festive feeling., thank you JESUS for this gift!

Yes, my mother was the best cook I knew. She made those cathead biscuits and chocolate gravy for breakfast. We had so many cakes and pies at Thanksgiving that it took her days to get them all baked. A good country cook and and fine Christian lady she was.

I grew up in SE Wisconsin, a small town named Union Grove in Racine County. It is about 15 miles west of Racine.
My Mom cooked pretty bland. We ate a lot of hamburger, eggs, or fish that we caught. We have eaten pheasant, rabbit, duck, and pigeon.
My wife was born and raised in the Cincinnati, Ohio area an is a much better cook than my mother was.

My mother, my Granny, my aunt, my sister, and my wife are all incredible cooks.
My wife cooks some things better than my mother can.
Our family is blessed in that department.
BTW Fringe Nut, catheads and chocolate gravy...mmmmm.
You're bringing back memories there.
