Re: Has Rush Limbaugh finally gone too far?

Matthew 15

What Pollutes Your Life
1-2 After that, Pharisees and religion scholars came to Jesus all the way from Jerusalem, criticizing, "Why do your disciples play fast and loose with the rules?"
3-9But Jesus put it right back on them. "Why do you use your rules to play fast and loose with God's commands? God clearly says, 'Respect your father and mother,' and, 'Anyone denouncing father or mother should be killed.' But you weasel around that by saying, 'Whoever wants to, can say to father and mother, What I owed to you I've given to God.' That can hardly be called respecting a parent. You cancel God's command by your rules. Frauds! Isaiah's prophecy of you hit the bull's-eye:

These people make a big show of saying the right thing,
but their heart isn't in it.
They act like they're worshiping me,
but they don't mean it.
They just use me as a cover
for teaching whatever suits their fancy."

10-11He then called the crowd together and said, "Listen, and take this to heart. It's not what you swallow that pollutes your life, but what you vomit up."

12Later his disciples came and told him, "Did you know how upset the Pharisees were when they heard what you said?"

13-14Jesus shrugged it off. "Every tree that wasn't planted by my Father in heaven will be pulled up by its roots. Forget them. They are blind men leading blind men. When a blind man leads a blind man, they both end up in the ditch."

15Peter said, "I don't get it. Put it in plain language."

16-20Jesus replied, "You, too? Are you being willfully stupid? Don't you know that anything that is swallowed works its way through the intestines and is finally defecated? But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. It's from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing. That's what pollutes. Eating or not eating certain foods, washing or not washing your hands—that's neither here nor there."
--------------
I don't agree with tax payers paying for birth control, there are plenty of places to get that free of charge. And further more, its called "responsibility".Ther's a sayin, "If u wanna play, ya gotta pay".
The other thing, I don't like Rush. I don't listen to Rush. He does not represent my thoughts. Someone on here said, he spoke what I was thinking, but I'm too "Christian to say it out loud"....Oh Good Grief! Jesus also said , "what u think in your heart, so r u".
Maybe I'm more liberal than I thought, but, we r living in the 21st century people! This is what the majority of society does! Its what they've always done. Heathens or saints, have had pre marital sex, fornicated all througout history. There is no way that's gonna turn around or change, just because we want it to. Only Jesus can change the heart and mind set and lifestyle of a person, if that person wants them to.
We can voice our opinions in the media all day long. But the minute we agree with someone like Rush, who "thinks" he is above the law of love, spews his garbage, which BTW, is no different that the garbage that was spewed agains, Laura and Sarah, or when Lettermen did the same. Rush lowered himself to their level of behavior.
Our bible tells us not to judge, less we be judged with same manner.
Now look, we r being judged once again in the media as contemptable! Thanks Rush!

I missed that, too? That would tend to bolster the Rush rant...

After looking into this more carefully, it seems that she didn't come right out and say that she has so much sex she can't afford it. Rush was inferring that from some of the things she did say however.

An article from the Huffington post said the following:

Quote:
He said that her speech at a press conference served to show that "she's having so much sex she can't pay for it, and we should."

Fluke had testified about the reproductive and broader medical reasons for birth control, and cited the cost. Limbaugh said she was having "$3000 worth of birth control pills worth of sex."

He described her testimony from his perspective. "So the woman comes forth with this frankly hilarious claim that she's having so much sex -- and her buddies with her-- that she can't afford it," Limbaugh continued. "And not one person says, did you ever think about maybe backing off the amount of sex that you have?"
Here's the link to the whole article:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1316625.html

So, it seems that Sandra Fluke said she needed $3,000 dollars worth of contraceptives and was complaining about the cost so Rush was simply inferring from this that she was having so much sex she couldn't afford it.

Here is an article also from the Huffington Post concerning Bill O'Reilly and his take on it (he sides with Limbaugh):

I think Rush went too far, though he apologized and all that I think that using that term is just too rude.

If you are calling someone something rude like that, you are judging them IMHO.

Re: Has Rush Limbaugh finally gone too far?

Well, hmm, one tunes in to Rush to get judgements, tho God how i hate to defend him--but, what is the nice word for someone who likes to have lots of extra-marital, I assume, sex? So it would seem to me that if this characterization above is correct, I might still think he is a heel, but I'm not sure how much more delicately he could state that he isn't interested in providing unlimited contraception for sluts?

I find her counter argument that she meant that some insurance co would actually be paying or whatever specious; we all pay.

It seems to me, Matt, that no judgement is required until we are asked to collectively foot the bill, is Rush's position here. The whole bill? Certainly the fallout.

Re: Has Rush Limbaugh finally gone too far?

Rush has helped the Right lose the election.
The Right is already thought of as a bunch of meanies anyway but Rush sealed the deal.

It does seem that a woman standing up before the world screaming her need for free contraception for her 3 times a day sexual excapades and shes not even married is shameful, but then again - did she really say that?

Surely if Imus could take his whoopin - its time for Rush to take his.

The liberal talk show host called Laura Ingram a slut and apologized ON THE AIR ON HIS SHOW - not some written apololgy on his website.

David Letterman's joke he told about Sara Palin's daughter on his show was awful and he apologized ON THE AIR ON HIS SHOW - not some writting apology on his website.

With Mr. Limbaugh though, he doubled down on his bombastic language against this woman UNTIL it started hitting the advertisers started pulling their ads.

It goes to show both sides have made unfortunate and mean statements but Mr. Limbaugh MUST APOLGIZE ON THE AIR ON HIS SHOW.

Maybe some of these liberals will apologize for their "humorous" statements:

“But I’ve often said that if I had — I have two dogs — if I had two retarded children, I’d be a hero. And yet the dogs, which are pretty much the same thing. What? They’re sweet. They’re loving. They’re kind, but they don’t mentally advance at all. … Dogs are like retarded children.” — Bill Maher

"I want to go up to the closest white person and say: 'You can't understand this, it's a black thing' and then slap him, just for my mental health" -- New York city councilman Charles Barron

“Did you hear this – Sarah Palin finally heard what happened in Japan and she’s demanding that we invade ‘Tsunami.’I mean she said, ‘These ‘Tsunamians’ will not get away with this.’ Oh speaking of dumb twats, did you…” --Bill Maher

“Again, (America is) a stupid country with stupid people who don’t pay attention.” — Bill Maher

"Drudge? Aw, Drudge, somebody ought to wrap a strong Republican entrail around his neck and hoist him up about six feet in the air and watch him bounce." -- Liberal radio host, Mike Malloy
