Round Two

  1. Would the adoption, even the limited use of television, have a negative affect on your relationship with UPCI.
  2. Would the continued total ban on television have a negative affect on your relationship with the UPCI?
  3. Would you use television for advertising if it were allowed?
  4. Would you use television for ministering if it were allowed?

Amazing no one sees the resolution will be changed to completely remove the section and allow TV. It is no longer about Advertising and Evangelism.

Hallelujah!
What a novel idea, delete a section that in many circles has been ignored for decades.

  1. Do you feel any reversal of our traditional position relative to television will eventually lead to a reversal of all position regarding television?
  2. Do you feel that any reversal of any traditional position relative to television will lead to the erosion of our holiness position?
  3. Do you think it is acceptable to advertise on the internet, but not on television?
  4. Do you think it is acceptable to minister on the internet, but not on television?

I think the UPCI Headquarters needs to back off and let churches evangelize how they want or feel led to evangelize and stop trying to dictate like the Vatican what churches either can or cannot do.

The UPCI was created for a fellowship of like-minded believers. It was not created to become an obnoxious, obtrusive big-brother government-type organization.

It's incredibly hypocritical for the UPCI to ban the use of commercials for evangelistic purposes . . . and yet force General Conference attendees to sit through 45 minutes of Pentecostal Publishing House commercials before each service.

If you don't like TV - fine! Don't watch it, don't advertise on it, just keep on doing what you're doing. But don't get grumpy and bent out of shape if I want to advertise on tv or if I own a bigscreen.

It's already been mentioned that many UPC churches, even Headquarters, uses the internet to broadcast services . . . what's the difference?!?

I've yet to find that television has broken a home, caused adultery or introduced pornography into a home as much as the internet has.

People online who are against televisions are hypocrites.

So if they don't allow TV and this is killed like it was in 2005- are you staying or going?!?

My being a part of the UPC isn't regulated to television. It's sad that so many have made it a "TV or Bust!"/"No TV or Bust!" issue.

To be honest, I'd rather they didn't get involved with the debate at all. Just scrape the ban and let the individual churches and/or districts decide how to proceed with this. In answer to the question, I'll be disappointed if they don't allow it, but I'm not going to leave because of it.

It's strange, for an organization comprised of so many political conservatives, yet many of the same political conservatives are trying to advance liberal or socialistic policies. ie, they've created a beast of a government (Headquarters) and want big brother (Headquarters) to tell us what we can or cannot do. It's ironic.

I'm part of this organization only because my parents have been ministers of the UPC for 50 years and the Pastor of the church I'm a part of is licensed by this organization. I have no loyalty to an organization, even if it is one of the best Oneness organizations around.

HERE ARE THE FINAL 4 QUESTIONS!!!!!

1.Would you be in favor of the UPCI producing commercials for advertising on television?

2.Are you a pastor?

3.Are you a full-time evangelist?

4.Do you meet the qualification to vote at the next General Conference?

Ding! Ding! There's how it could pass. Headquarters will allow it if they can produce the commercials and make the profits for them.
