Very few on AFF will admit that the GOP has a race problem. At least when I have conversations with fellow conservatives in person, the conversation usually includes a mutual admission of the GOP's failure to reach out and attract minorities effectively.
On here, I bring it up, and everyone just acts as if I'm not telling the truth and that the GOP of Lincoln is the GOP of the 21st century.

JD - the GOP has a race problem, because the media wants to further the Dem. narrative.
Also, the Dem's want to keep African Americans voting as a block for them, so they will do all they can to encourage this.
Now, tell me about YOUR personal experience.
Who in your direct experience has been racist?
What party did they belong to?
I can say that both parties have their own racist components.
And I can boldly say that all of the black racists are Democrat...
And I have met many of them.

(1) The GOP has a race problem, but not for the reason you have provided. The race problem the GOP has is a GOP-base problem, not rampant but it is HARDLY EVER put in check. It is not simply a media problem.
(2) You give too much credit to the Democrats. They don't do all that they can, they do just enough, and nowadays, the GOP provides fodder for the Democrats to use. It's like decrying racial prejudice without addressing the truth(s) that fuel the racial prejudice in the first place.
(3) I have experienced racial prejudice and racism-- but more racial prejudice and I can only think of one occasion where I believe my life could have been in danger. I am not interested in talking about it. It was a long time ago.
(4) As for the political parties of the racist and the racially prejudiced, honestly, most have been either conservative or the anarchist type-- at least these are the ones I've had conversations with, tried to find common ground with. I've had many conversations with racially prejudiced black people and they were all Democrat or Independent, as the Independents didn't want to play the white man's power games and advocate that we not vote.
(5) It is hard for me to label most blacks who vote Democrat but have said racially-prejudiced junk as racially prejudiced because they usually have white people that they know and love, but they don't consider them white, and they are definitely not connected to, "the man" in anyway in their minds. When some blacks talk about the "white man", it is about skin color but then it isn't as much about the skin color as it is about the struggle and sense of powerlessness and sense of "other"-ness. (I can only speak about the people I know personally and/or have had personal experiences with). It's hard to explain clearly, but for every 5 black Democrats that I know have said racially prejudiced things, 3 of them have more than a couple white friends. They don't consider them "white" like George Washington and George Bush. When they speak about the white man, they're not talking about their white friends. For some of these folks, EMINEM is one of the best rappers ever! Sylvestor Stallone, Arnold Swarzenegger are their favorite actors. Vanna White and Daisy Duke and Kim Kardashian are sexy! So to just label them as racist or even racially prejudiced wouldn't be EXACT.
My earliest brushes with racially prejudiced people have been with blacks who ROUTINELY vote Democrat, but a lot of these people have had experiences that would make you and I cringe in anger and sadness. My Dad was born in the 1940's. He saw and experienced a lot of things that I never had to go through. Even he, however, was very, very kind to the two white members I remember who joined our church at various times during my childhood. He even had a white Pastor speak at our church when I was a teenager and bless God both he and some of the members of his congregation were not afraid to come and worship with us in our church in the ghetto, in Washington, in the 1990's, when the murder and crime rates were soaring! They drove up from Southern MD. It wasn't a small thing what my Dad and that Pastor endeavored to do that Sunday evening in N.E. DC.

JD - thanks for the insight. I enjoy listening to and providing personal experiences. This gets us beyond our personal cluttered viewpoints.
