On the subjection of reining in consumer demand, that's a little hypocritical coming from someone that approves of speculating. They want us to rein in, but they don't want to curb it in their arena.

Suggesting ways to conserve while prices are high is okay, but not on the level that is being purported by Obama. I can be told the best ways to conserve electricity, but if I'm willing to pay for my consumption, then don't put restrictions unless it's a national emergency.
im skeptical that domestic oil will lower prices, at least by much. Oil Companies have so many different excuses and angels such as S&D...more driving during the summer so prices go up. More refineries going off line. And simply what is happening now, market speculation

Hey!!!! our God is bigger than gas, just believe folks!
You know, even when I homeless, God looked out for me When I got a place to stay and my car broke down many, many miles from home and I had to hitchhike, God looked out for me. Now things are much nicer, and God still and He will look out for me, because HE is good and faithful.

Well, I made a huge typo in my previous post! lol It should read subject and not subjection. My normal typing faster than my brain is working. lol

I can agree with you that I am also skeptical, BUT I still want to drill our own oil from our own land. I don't want the dependence on foreign oil. I also want exploration and technology to expand in other areas as well. We can deal with the why and why nots, the high and lows later.

This is an excellent, more in depth, article on speculating.

It would be nice, but which company get's to drill and therefore reap the profits?

You know I read in Iraq that gas is under 1 dollar a gallon. Would Exxon sell us our own gas from American soil cheaper? I doubt it

Hmmm. I wonder if this is the same meeting I caught part of on C-Span the other day. Speculation in the market is what they were talking about.

Some friends of ours are in from Nigeria and are saying that gas is under a $1 there also.

How do they award the drilling contracts?

From the article I posted it appears to be up in the air and not totally proven that speculating is doing all that much hurt. At least that's what I gleaned from it.

What do you think about this?
I heard on the news yesterday that some analyst is predicting oil at $200 per barrel by Christmas which would mean gast a $7 per gallon.

I am glad my wifes Linclon Town Car gets 25 mpg on the highway for trips! In the old days a full size car would have only gotten around 9 mpg.

I guess you're trying to express faith, which is admirable, I suppose. But your post still comes across as being overly simplistic and somewhat naive.

So if gas went up to $10 a gallon, we should all just shrug our shoulders and say "who cares"? Please. Lets get real here. The increase in fuel prices is not just an added burden on Christians, but it's a burden on all Americans.
