Or when he advises them that he's sorry that they already have 14 children, but using birth control is a sin?

Most here would say that those things are sin, error, or at the very least unbiblical. But techinically, priests are those who are put in authority over catholics, and therefore by what I perceive to be the thoughts of most here, they would be required to obey and submit to them.

Yes, those are examples, but for me it goes beyond that.

It is not so much as being ordered, as being taught as truth, things that I do not necessarily view as truth or biblical, or that I feel is being misinterpreted. Not necessarily things that are outright sin (like drinking the kool-aid etc.), but things I definately feel are not what God intended.

But I really don't so much want to make this about me, but about the question, at which point is it wrong to "obey", that is the question.
Michlow,
Sorry I am not able to respond to this right yet.
It is before the Holiday Weekend and it is nuts with a bunch of headaches,

Then I suppose that we shouldn’t take anything that Jesus said because it was all to the Jews...they were all under the law. Sure, lets scrap it all.

Sorry, I think there is a principle to be found in that scripture.

Everyone needs to be accountable to someone. They need to be accountable to a church body some where. If someone can't agree with the teachings of the church they're attending, then they need to find a church where they can submit to Godly authority.

Of course you might dismiss this as old testament.. but .. still, it is bible.

Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Everyone ... from the preacher to the saint needs to be submitted to spiritual authority and guidance in their lives.

Trouble with a lot of people today, they church hop or move around because they can’t ever agree with any pastor in any church they attend. #1 signal there might be a problem… not with churches, but with their inability to submit to someone spiritually.

Do I agree with every little thing my pastor teaches or believes? No, quiet frankly, I do not, but I still submit my life to a spiritual authority because I know it is the right thing to do.

If I truly thought he was in biblical error, then I would find somewhere else to attend.. but most definitely will not try to justify it or give me a right to fly solo… it just isn’t meant to be that way.

FB, I am guessing you just came to this thread, and haven't read through all the other posts since the one just responded to. So, I am going to give you a chance to catch up, because I think that I have already dealt with some of this. If you still have questions or comments that you think haven't been dealt with, please bring those to my attention.

Another way of saying: Have confidence in those that are in leadership in your life and surrender yourself to their leadership because of your confidence and trust in those leaders.

Obedience w/o confidence is of little value.

Anything substantive to add???

Besides "amening" the status quo?

It's amazing how simple it is when the Word is rightly divided.

Removes a lot of the angst and hand-wringing.
