Probably so. Well, maybe not this week, but generally.

Okay, I'm out. Tired of politics tonight. Have a good one, Stew!

Okay...but just think about it. There are dozens of respected voices in the black community who can attract tens of thousands with no compelling issue to rally people around. People take them seriously and are willing to follow them and support them for who they are.
Sharpton is not shaping the consciousness as much as you might seem to think he does, and you really can't afford to allow his voice to push you to oppose a situation just for the sake of opposing him and his ilk.

Have a good night.

A 911 dispatcher telling you not to follow some one is not an order from law enforcement.
It does appear that Trayvon may have attacked Zim and there is an actual witness to this.
I still have a problem with the entire scenario.

Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

It is apparent to me from the information now coming out that Trayvon's life was spiraling out of control in the year leading up to this. I've seen this happen many times. It happened to me a little bit earlier when I was 16. I thank God for the Lord's mercy. He saw fit to save me. Those of us who have the Holy Ghost let's not take this as a campaign to drag the name of a dead teenager through the mud. What we expose let us be careful. How we refer to the dead, let us be careful. How we refer to the living, let us be careful. Trayvon is a lost soul. However, God is not pleased with the death of souls, neither should those of us that have God's spirit in us. This should grieve us and move us to prayer.

So, let's be prayerful. The world will see a criminal in this kid or in Zimmerman soon enough.

God sees souls. Let us not forget that.

There are enough Trayvon's in the world that we need to be reaching. I meet them, pray with them, talk to them, witness to them, everyday. God loved Trayvon, God loves Zimmerman.

God losing Trayvon was like the death of child. I don't think we see the death of someone who was not saved that way. God created Trayvon and wanted him saved. Likewise he wants Zimmerman saved.

Would it be too much to ask those who have the Holy Ghost on this board to spend an extra half hour to an hour of prayer sometime this week seeking God on this situation if you have not already? There has been an extreme burden on me for the past four days, so I just thought under the unction of the Holy Ghost I'd just ask that of the believers? We can speculate on what "will happen" and what won't, and get as political as we want to be. It means nothing if the people of God don't pray.

Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

Tbf - great post. I have been deeply troubled over this entire situation. Not only the needless death of a young man, but also the rush to judgement by both sides in this situation. I wonder how Dr. King would have addressed this situation?
We live in a fallen world that needs our Lord.
I will join you in prayer.

Re: Anger + Sadness = RAGE

"One witness, who has since talked to local television news reporters, told police he saw Zimmerman on the ground with Trayvon on top, pounding him — and was unequivocal that it was Zimmerman who was crying for help."
