To go to a prom, I can see no way that it would be alright.

Worldly music, very ungodly dress, dancing, and all the other ungodly things that go on. I know what they said about prom when I was in school 30 years ago and I was from a very conservative town. I'd say that may only half of those who could go to prom did, and they certainly were not all Apostolics.

I know that around here there is no question about it.

They already go to school with these kids. See just as much during the school hours, and hear the same music during school hours. This is a party for them, that is supervised, to celebrate getting OUT of school.

Man...I wish I had some Jack and Coke. lol

I've always said when I'm old and nobody will bother me, I'm going to sip on some bourbon and smoke a pipe while doing my devotions on Saturday mornings.

I understand, but no, we do not keep regular wine at all. Just cooking wine only. I like the garlic wine... trust me you really are not tempted to drink it either!

It's not just about me. I consider the thoughts and feelings of our church and my wife too.

LOL! I had a long talk with the local Lutheran pastor after he strolled past my house one morning with a derby, smoking a pipe, and reading a magazine... intriguing!

My thoughts exactly! Never cook with wine you wouldn't drink. (I don't drink alcoholic beverages but I do use decent wine while cooking. )

Wink Re: Proms and Pentecostals

Both of my daughters went to prom. ( 1988 and 1993)
They were taught right and wrong long before they were 17! They both had a lic and drove to school and work.

If they were looking for trouble it wouldn't require a prom.

The trust issue begins when they are young. You teach, they test you, you teach some more. By high school my girls knew how to conduct themselves even if I wasn't there.

(I did not go to prom and in the 60's it didn't even occur to me to want to go)

Re: Proms and Pentecostals

Aqullia

Concerning your post #155

My kids are happy. My son will be 20 in Nov.and has just landed a very good job with Lockheed Martin. They will be paying his way through college, said they would pay for him to go and get as many degrees (that pertains to his work) that he wants. By the way this was a home schooler for 12 years.

He could have already moved out. He just bought a mobile home, that dad has to gut out and completely remodel. This will take at least a year or more, maybe two seeing as he wants to have it all completely paid for first. OH and this home is 1/8 mile down the road.

So you see he has already had that chance, but doesn't want anything any different.

I have many sinner relative with who my daughter has visited and stayed and they will tell you"that girl loves her dad and that church".

I have not raised my kids that this is the rules and live by them or else.
They have been taught since they were babies that we love the lord and this is what makes Him happy. We do these thing, or don't do these things because we love God. The Lord is our life and this life is only temporal.

My son was so upset this year he could go with us to camp meeting, he had just started his new job and couldn't' go. He called us at least twice a day while we here gone.

This young mad calls his dad everyday at lunch, just to talk. He has informed me that when the day come that he marries I must be his best man. He said "your best friend is suppose to be your best man and there is no one whom I would consider for that spot but you". Walk close to the Lord and He will walk close to you. Both of them this week needed a prayer answered (something that was very important to them) and their prayers were answer. This is all they talked about a supper last night. By the way we still sit down to supper and eat as a family every day.

I am very close to each kid, there is nothing they won't tell me. Sometimes more info. than I want. My kids haven't been prefect but they will always come to dad and pour out their heart.

I guess I need to shut up now.
