I understand the need for preachers to work a secular job when starting a new church, but as the church grows, the needs of he congregation grows. He will eventually have to give up one or the other.
Unless bro alex is satisfied with a church of us four and no more, a pastor working a secular job is fine. I think alex has higher ambitions than a church of 70.

In comparison to other churches in Maine, ours is a good size. My last assembly had 40 or so, it was in Massachusetts and that pastor worked part-time. It really depends on the pastor and the situation. However, the church doesn't grow because pastor is always there or friendly or looks good or whatever, the church grows because sinners hear the Gospel message, see their unrightgeousness, are warned of the wrath to come if they don't repent, and then repent and obey the Gospel. We're not selling our pastor, or he's not some product we're trying to get sinners to buy, we're compelling men to come and get right with GOD. If the assembly ever grows large enough that he can be fully supported- great! He'll then quit his secular job if
he chooses to and feels it is the LORD's will. You don't know how many people feel he ought NOT work a secular job, but he is truly an example of selflessness.
Some way or another, he doesn't get tired with a full-time job, full-time pastoring, a wife and five kids- GOD is truly on my pastors life, because if that was me (where I'm at spiritually) I would be worn out. Also, every member of the assembly is a minister in some regard so work is dispersed amoung us. There's a deacon and there's also two or three men that I believe will be elders in the near future (and they currently do those types of roles). I also help out in the church a good amount, along with the pastor's oldest son and and another young man and we are all aspiring ministers, so as we're getting mentored, we're also doing some of the work of the ministry. Our assembly is even able to reach out to the community with a food pantry and there are more than enough willing saints to work in that, and work is delegated to people in that ministry... We're the NT church, ready, able and equipted to do EVERY good work the LORD has called us to do without getting tired or lukewarm. We have a great pastor, who's a great example. There was a review written about my assembly on apostolic-voice.org, if anyone wants to read it I'd be more than happy to share the exact link with you.
GOD BLESS!
Bro. Alex
