If a Jew asked..

Jew: "honestly with all the respect to all christians . why we have to believe in jesus ?its like believing in mohammed or joseph smith.if god is the creator of the universe , why we have to believe or trust them.god is god amen."

How would you respond?

I want to give him an answer without error/doubt.

Re: If a Jew asked..

There isn't going to be a simple answer. You'd have to show him "Christ" in the Old Testament. Good luck. (seriously, did you have to type out his accent?)

Re: If a Jew asked..

One would need to demonstrate to them that there was prophecy of God coming in the form of man and that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies made concerning that.

In the link below about 1/4 the way down there begins a list of messianic prophecies and the fulfillment thereof. I'd copy paste the chart but the forum doesn't hold columns and it would be a jumbled mess.

http://www.jesus-is-lord.com/messiah.htm

I would imagine that the only ones that would be of major importance upfront would be any that deal with the manner in which the messiah would come and Jesus' fulfillment of those. There isn't much in the NT that you could use that would impress him except to demonstrate that Jesus fulfilled an OT prophecy. You're going to have to come at this using the OT.

Can you believe God without believing in Moses?

I agree, the prophecies fulfilled to the letter is the evidence that Jesus was the Christ. ( Most of the Jews thought the Messiah would come as an earthly ruler) and some may still believe that. What's interesting is the high percentage of Israeli people that actually do not even believe or practice the Old testament.

I just thought it was interesting that the prophecies were fulfilled to the letter, but the Jews didn't get it "right".

Right. They were thinking more on the basis of King David type of Messiah that would deliver them from the oppression of their enemies and would lead them by the divine direction of God. They didn't see him as spiritual deliver and as a final atonement for their sins.
