I think with issues like this we need to see it in context. With Ferd it was his family that lost the farm. With this housing crisis it's over what, 4 million (?) American families about to be homeless? The ripple effect through the economy could be REALLY bad. Banks would take MAJOR losses (more bank failures) and God knows what else.
This isn't just one family loosing a farm. This is the bottom falling out of an entire sector of the American economy.
