Obama is just the first extremely popular political figure we've seen in a generation.
Don't freak out. It will pass.

No one's freaking out. So dont "exaggerate", to use your word.
If Obama is "far more popular" during this campaign season than they were, as you say, why is he only leading in the polls by 5-6 points nationally? Why isnt he leading by 15-20 points?
How about Reagan....In 1984, Reagan in a huge landslide,
getting 59% of the vote, and winning 49 out of 50 states, something we know Obama will not do.
Did you see any pro-Reagan youth groups singing songs praising him?
There have been popular presidential candidates before , who won in a much bigger landslide than Obama would if he wins in November. But the larger point, which you seem to be missing or overlooking, is not who's popular by how many points... it is the fact that man has been made into a "political savior" more than any presidential candidate in recent memory. And people ascribe to him abilities and expectations far beyond anything indicated by his political experience. Some of his own supporters have repeatedly said, he's not just a man, but he's "a movement"... or at least someone on the leading edge of a movement. To me this is all ridiculous, and shows the gullibility of up to 1/2 the electorate.
When it gets to the point people are having youth groups singing about this man's "promise" and ability to change America and the world, then that's a bit much for me. Anyway, I'm convinced that the American sheeple are deceived, aided by a compliant media. This man should be nowhere near beign this close to being president. But people are more moved by soaring rhetoric and oratory than true substance.
