Sadistic glee is a good phrase for it. And I'm sure they think that by training their kid like a circus sideshow to regurgitate things he doesn't yet understand, that they'll protect themselves from the "relentless gay agenda" that will surely be out to convert their son in the future. It makes so much sense.
