You need to study rabbinical commentary on the teachings of Jesus and the Agunah (Agunot). You can also Youtube those subjects and see that this is still a problem in Judaism even today. A legalistic Western Evangelical interpretation doesn't take the entire historical and cultural context of ancient Judaism into consideration.
Therefore, you are wrongfully condemning believing families who have already suffered the emotional pain and agony of divorce. Thereby adding to their hurt instead of mending their souls.
