The 19th annual National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championship is March 15-20 at gymnasiums throughout Springfield, Republic and Ozark.
The tournament planner is projecting 352 teams from more than 30 states to participate in the tournament. More than 3,200 boys and girls in a variety of age divisions will compete.
In all, more than 8,500 people are expected to be in the city for the event. More than 7,000 room nights were booked through the Convention & Visitors Bureau’s reservation program along with many others booked without using the bureau’s service.
The CVB estimates out-of-town participants and spectators will spend about $3.65 million in the city.
The All-American games, 3 point contest and slam dunk contests begin at 6:30 p.m. March 17 at Hammons Student Center. The championship games begin at 2:30 p.m. March 20 at Hammons Student Center. Three championship games are scheduled.
