Obama and His Entourage are Supposed to be Smart

A coffee drinking buddy of mine, an African American and a big supporter of BO, read in the NY Times the other day that W was writing a book about his years in the White House. Then he said, "Bush aint writin no book!" To which I replied, "Why do you say that?" He said "Bush aint smart enough to write no book! Somebody else is doin it for him."

I said, "He's not smart enough? You know he graduated from an Ivy League school." To which my friend said, "He only graduated because his daddy pulled strings for him so he could graduate."

I debated with him a little bit longer then I just gave up. How do you rationalize with someone who is being irrational?

The more I thought about it the more I pondered how that liberals use the same argument time and again. Republicans are stupid. Republicans are ignorant. Republicans have less intellectual heft than liberals and Democrats. Democrats are always so profoundly smart. Jimmy Carter was so intelligent. Bill Clinton was so brilliant. Barack Obama is nearly a genius.

I have a question: if BO and his entourage are so smart, how is it they wouldn't even pass a high school level economics exam? I mean if you were really smart wouldn't you think that you could figure out that we can't spend like we're spending, we can't tax like we're being taxed, we can't keep borrowing at the rate we're borrowing and we can't keep printing money like we're printing money and think that there's no end? Most elementary students know the 1-2=-1. Evidently these mental giants have a bad memory and simply forgot what they learned in the 2nd grade.

Nothing new here. Talk Radio opener and a huge straw man (economics = political philosophy) Nice.

There is no reason to mention that your friend is African American when stating that he supports President Obama. That was truly vacuous.

#1 - Your comment is extremely bigoted and is the equivalent of those that are racist against African Americans, yet, they try to disprove their racism by stating "I have Black friends".

#2 - The manner is which you relayed this conversation insinuates that because your friend is African American he supports President Obama. Many people in this country have this same perception, namely that all African Americans support President Obama; which is racist and as a person just down right offensive.

#3 - Having stated the following above in #2, there are some African Americans that support/like President Obama solely on the basis of ethnicity. My opinion of that is people who voted based on ethnicity alone are politically ignorant (that applies to this past election or any other election).

#4 - What difference does it truly make that your friend is African American? Can he not just like a political figure strictly based on their character and political ideologies? Unless he stated that he supports President Obama because of his ethnicity. In which case bringing up your friends ethnicity, and not mentioning the true reason why he supports President Obama is highly disingenuous on your part. Furthermore, it shows that to some degree you don't look at him as a person, but just as you described him, an African American.

Were you being sarcastic? One's economic philosophy will greatly influence their political philosophy.

Consider the importance of economics to political philosophy by looking at BHO's chief economic advisor - Lawrence Summers...

Summers was forced to resign from his post as president of Harvard University due to a no confidence vote that was instigated in part by his involvement in a conflict of interest case whereby he personally profited by using Harvard's connections with USAID and the privatization of Russian state owned businesses. Harvard was fined over $26 million dollars and Summers was dinged $3.5 million personally.

He and his wife both avoided jail time by paying up. Now, he's running the country's economy.

I think that's a clear case of how one's own economic philosophy (personal greed) can influence their political philosophy (manipulating university and gov't agencies to further one's own personal greed).

I only hope you just as strong when you black people mention "white person". I have doubts.

I don't think Bush was the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I don't see writing a book being that difficult for him. In my opinion while Bush may not have been the most intelligent Republican to ever hold office, we must remember he doesn't represent all Republicans. I think Newt Gingrich is a brilliant policy writer and leader. I believe Gingrich is more intelligent than Bush and Obama put together. Oh well, sometimes I feel sorry for W.

I also don't think that Obama and his minions are all that stupid either. While you and I are sitting here wondering what they're thinking... they know what they're thinking. They have an agenda. I think it is to socialize the United States and to amass state power and wealth. It's a governmental power grab to further a globalist socialist agenda. The only thing that stands in their way is the libertarianism of freedom loving Republicans.

I think that the agenda is to make us part of a global socialist system but can't help but wonder how much BHO understands and how much he is just a pawn being played by someone else's hand.

I do not think that Bush was the brightest President our nations has had, and you are correct he doesn't represent all Republicans. (He is a college graduate, although, that is not a prerequisite to writing a book). If he does write the book it will be interesting to read what he writes. Having said that I don't think that President Obama represents all Democrats and everyone that considers themselves to be liberal. President Obama and anyone that is in his circle is absolutely not stupid. All politicians have an agenda, that is the core of politics in my opinion. The founding fathers were after power and wealth; and that ideology has been woven into the foundation of this nation. We all know that our country has socialism in some form or another, but things will become worse in order for the will of God to be fulfilled. As people of God we should look at political developments as a sign that God is soon to take us out of this world.
