That might be the case if he were speaking to someone from South Africa, but in speaking to just anyone, he'd most likely name the country, not the continent.

SA is still a country. Think of it as states that have counties each having their own county seats.

LOL!

For some reason, that's only here. South and Central America or even North America isn't referred to as just 'America'.

In addition, being from North America doesn't make one American anymore than being from Africa makes one African. Interesting, huh?

I don't know if Palin said it or not, but I do know that any way you slice it, Africa is a continent not a country. It is no more proper to call Africa a country because there is a country called South Africa than it is to call New York City a state for the same reason. Someone going to South Africa very well could properly say "I am going to Africa"...just like anyone in the other 52 countries could properly say that.

It's a better analogy to know someone say "New York" may very well mean the state or the city, or both depending on the context.

Stephen, I understand that Palin is your girl, but Africa is just simply not a country. Admittedly, my analogy may not have been the best becaus there is a state and a city both referred to as New York and there is no country routinely referred to as Africa, but I have not had my coffee yet. Once again, I do not know if she said it or if she misspoke...I'm just saying that under no circumstance can you properly call Africa a country....any more than you can call Europe, Asia, or North America a country. I guess the better analogy would be the iprpriety of calling North America a country just because there happens to be a country on the continent with America in its name.

There's more stretching going on here than in a yoga class.

Bottom line here is that in 2 years when the next campaign kicks off, if Palin is what she is now, she wont get a second glance. Time will prove if she is dumb as a box of rocks as some suggest.

But if she can stand up to the heat and take the punches and can articulate both a national and international strategy she will be a force to be reckoned with.

like the song says, Time keeps on ticking into the future.

And we all know that time reveals all things.

What did you think about the press converance at the Governor's meeting where she took center stage and all the other governors played second fiddle? I found that to be pretty interesting...I'm not sure who actually orchestrated it, but I would give long though (and time) before I officially made her the face of the party. Guys like Rick Perry (our governor) could not have been too happy with that I would imagine.

Would that not be the case with any governor who had just run on a major ticket? Just asking....
