Year Of Unrest!
This year in B.C. all of the major Grocers which are unionized have thier contracts up for renewal.
They have all taken strike votes & it is almost 100% yes for a strike.
How did we not see that coming???
I predict more strikes as the cost of everything rises.
Only good thing is they have to give not only 72 hour strike notice (which they did) but they also have to give 72 hour perishability notice to allow the grocery chains to clear the shelves of perishables (which they have not done) before a strike happens.
Going to be an interesting year for sure!

Why not just let the shoppers clear the shelves ??????

The big Grocers are all Unionized & thier contracts are up.
With the rise in cost of everything they are going to try and recoup thier loss of buying power by getting a substantial raise.
The companies will probably dig in.

I don't know if they did this in the states, but in Canada back in the seventies they would have those contests wherby shoppers could see how much groceries they could grab in 5 minutes.

There are actually more of them, but the big ones like Safeway, Save On Foods,
Overwaitea, IGA, Great Canadian Superstore, are all the big players with many stores.
