I am following you completely. This is not an apples and oranges thing. The argument being used here is that God gave it to us, but now he wants to narrow the focus.
I am not disputing the argument that there is not biblical premise to shave.
Thank you! You and Miss B seem to get my intent.......

First off its not how long one should let ones finger nails grow that we are discussing here .It is facial hair.
Grooming finger nails and growing facial hair are two diffrent things.
Brother you basically asked about how long should we go with out bathing.
Would you propose the same question to a man like John the baptist or any other prophet of God who wonder the the wilderness. Can you just imagine the oder these man may have had.
Would you ask them how long their facial hair should grow?
Please explain to me ,what not taking a bath has to do with one shaving their face.
One has nothing to do with the other.
One can shave and stiil not take a bath.Does one who does not take a shower, die lost in burning hell. No they will not.Taking a bath is not a prequisite for salvation.
One is not saved just because they shave or not. That is my whole point here,
So why preach against someone who does not shave.
Please show me scripture where any preacher has this right to condem some one to hell beacsue the grow facial hair.
Brother would you strap Jesus Christ down to a barber chair and take a razor to his throat if he walked into your church.
Who here would?

alogi, fingernails grow just like hair does--in fact, in the same manner, and nearly in the same process. So...if you followed your line of logic, you would never cut your fingernails because they occur naturally, so therefore God must want you to have long fingernails!
Sister girl quit tryin to confuse the man with logic.

First off I just want to know why do those of the UPCI and other Apostolic denominations hold to this pharisee doctrine.''Shave to be saved'
Again the logic here and common sense is this.We are talking about salvation and what shaving has to do with it.We are not talking about nail cutting or bathing. These are different issues. Why cant anyone stay on track here.Stop trying to side track the issue.
I am trying to stick with the shaving issue here.Everyone else wants to go on about, talking about some kind of bath or nail cutting.Do any of you believe that one has to take a bath before God will save them?If not why not. Most of yall seem that one has to be shaved, before God will save them.
Some here seem to be debating for that cause.
Again nails have nothing to do with taking a razor to ones face.let us use common sense here.We are taking about beards and mustaches not finger nails and not body odor.
Anyone can go to any alter stinking and God will save them. Being bathed is not a requirement, that God needs to accept a broken heart.
For what I have seen so far.I can only come to the conclusion that those that have answered here so far believe in works for salvation.I have came across this many times with in oneness ranks. This my friends is called pharisseeism.
One is not saved by works ,One is saved because they have obeyed God, not because they cut or allow their nails to grow out.One is saved because of obedience to Acts2;38,not because they shave or not.
All I am asking is for all pharisees to learn that they are not special,God does allow Holy man to wear beards.
Folks, let us use some little wisdom here.I havent seen any yet.
Most of yall seem that one has to be shaved, before God will save them.
Actually, alogi, I don't think anyone in this entire FORUM believes that.
We were just trying to follow your logic, which isn't very logical.
But I think even the most conservative among us would say that facial hair on men is NOT a heaven or hell issue.

Been in the UPC 35+ years. Although I could see this happening in more conservative/strict churches, I have never been in a UPC church were this has been preached from the pulpit. And anywhere that I have run across a shaving issue (both in the stateside churches and in foreign countries), it has always been about presenting a clean cut image on the platform. It has never been about salvation. Some pastors would like for the image of their leadership that is on the platform to have a short hair, clean cut image. There is nothing wrong with that, nor is it salvational. (And for those of my friends reading this who sport goatees or other facial hair, this is not a jab that yours is not a clean cut image. )

No one in this thread has proclaimed that. And no one has argued your point that shaving is not a requirement for salvation.

If you have reached that conclusion from reading the responses in this thread, your deductions are incorrect.

So now because we disagree with the logic that you used to come to your conclusion (THAT WE ALL AGREE WITH!), we are now the pharisees. Great logic.

Again, as MissB has graciously stated, we agree with you in principle, just not in the "God gave it to us" logic.
