The former Governor acknowledged that for cancelling the pre-scheduled trip to India would have been, "very insulting" to India, an increasingly important ally to the United States given its proximity to Pakistan.
"They've been a good friend of the United States, not only in terms of diplomatic friendship, but they've also been a good trade partner," Huckabee told Van Susteren. "For him to abruptly cancel the trip would have been a snub of epic proportions and would have had long-lasting implications and created damage that, frankly, we don't need right now in the international community. We need all the friends we can get, and India is one of them we need to keep."
-- former Governor Mike Huckabee
... and this is why Mr. Huckabee will always have my respect.

President Obama used the electronic speech-displaying device Monday to deliver his 30-minute address to Indian lawmakers in the historic Central Hall of parliament, the same place where Britain relinquished power to a newly independent India in 1947. It was the first time a teleprompter had been used inside the chamber.
“It looks like a podium”, said one mystified lawmaker. “Where do they place the paper?” asked another.
In India, politicians generally speak extemporaneously or from notes or text written on paper. The common perception, explained lawmaker Sanjay Nirupam of Mumbai, is that the really good speakers don’t need to have text in front of them.Regardless, lawmakers in the packed hall listened to Obama’s speech in mesmerized silence, punctuated by frequent applause.
The Indian people were quite shocked to see him using a teleprompter ,they thought by looking at him swiveling his head back and forth, he was trained in how to speak to mass audiences by making eye contact: toofunny They didnt know he was just reading from both directions. Now they know what we know that he is just a phony, very poorly spoken and written kind of a guy that pulled the wool over a lot of peoples eyes, with the help of a fawning media !
What's the big deal of using a Teleprompter? If he didn't he'd still be reading off notes
I'm assuming that the next President will be using the newest technology as well. I would not expect the next President to step to the podium with a spiral notebook or 3x5 cards. I preach from my laptop. This is really not a big deal to me.

So? Who said he should cancel it? Wasn't the issue that it costs too much? Not that he shouldn't go to India....
If you would read the article, you would understand that Huckabee determines that, regardless of the costs, for the President to have snubbed the Indians it woud have been a serious mistake.
Also, hasn't that 200 billion number already been debunked as most improbable?
Combat operations in Afghanistan for an entire year cost $190 billion!
