I'm not in anyone's league that's posting on this thread.
But, I can read and I have been baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence in speaking in tongues.
The Word of God isn't as complicated as it's being made to be, and yes that's just my opinion, but I think it's worth saying.
Peace and Truth in Jesus Name.
Don't feel discouraged. Salvation isn't by scholarship, its by faith in our Lord.

That said, I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly view myself as a student, not a scholar. And your input is appreciated.

6)In you guys system you are ALWAYS performing for salvation.
The word perform means to "do". Jesus said there are things we MUST DO.

There are many of them which are directly linked to salvation.

To me one of the most striking is this given to a New Testament Church.

Message to the Church in Sardis

1And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. 2Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. 4Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. 5He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 6He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Rev. 3:1-5

Are these the words of Jesus? If we are saved by faith (belief) why do Christians of all groups pretend this is not THE WORD OF THE LORD?

If nothing else these words from Christ should strike the fear of God into our hearts to wake up and understand what Jesus Christ expects of his New Testament people!

Yes there are things we must DO. The good news is they are DONE BY FAITH!

While making no apology for the things that have already been said there is still room for us to embrace this as truth:

1 Cor 13:1-2

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Peace and love to all!

Thank you for your kind words, Jason. They are much appreciated.
And thank you for reminding me salvation isn't by scholarship, but faith. So true.

"The fear of God" is exactly what happens every time I read anything in the Book of Revelation, but this is certainly one of the most sobering of Truths.

Gloorayyyy!

Does that make your day to pronounce the damnation of others who profess faith in Christ?

Steve your name is rightly linked to Spiritual Abuse. Rarely have I come across anyone as harsh as you (Winter and Reinhardt probably are a little harder than you).

Recently someone directed me to listen to one of your sermons, so I did. It was pretty short, about 19 minutes. It was more about a cruise ship that cap sized than anything from the scriptures. I don't remember you using a text but if you did you quickly deviated from it, and the whole "message" was an incoherent warning focused solely on fear tactics. What's it called? Post the link so other can hear.

And you come and condemn preachers like Martyn Lloyd-Jones? Leonard Ravenhill ? Paul Washer? As false prophets? Damned to hell while you give two thumbs up?

I don't mean to be rude but its probably going to be taken that way, but you're not even in their league (and neither am I) and you condemn them and the work they've done as nothing? You really think their work in Christ will be burned up as useless chaff on the day or judgment, but yours remain as gold and silver?

Considering how close we all are to meeting our God, I'd think that cause for humility, especially towards those who spent their life laboring for Christ, and especially as we get older.

I'm concerned that you, Steve Epley will be on your death bed, like some other ultra conservative preachers have been, and as they know the last hour us approaching, speak out in fear and regret "I was so hard on people" and just be terrified to die.
Bump, for you Steve Epley

Does it make your day to point that out to him?
