David Wilkerson heard from God....

.....on many occasions. He certainly made mistakes, and like all of us, probably missed God's will on more than one occasion. If anyone says that is not the case with them, they are lying. I shared this with an Apostolic of the extremist wing and it shook him to the core. He could not understand why God would give any of these people the time of day.

Is this a false prophet?

Re: David Wilkerson heard from God....

Great post! The first religious book I ever read was the "Cross and the Switchblade." It touched me. why would a country preacher give up the security and safety of his church for the gangs of the inner city? It makes me wonder. How can they get the message yet miss the baptism?

I think we both sides are missing the baptism, but in different ways.

Re: David Wilkerson heard from God....

Deuteronomy 18:20-22 "the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. [21] And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? [22] When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

Jim Cymballa is speaking (pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle). The loose cannon Evangelist he speaks of is Swaggart. The other minister mentioned is David Wilkerson.

Re: David Wilkerson heard from God....

I was raised oneness but my mom got the holy ghost in the assembly of god church. She later that same year started attending oneness. I was told that the people of trinity belief would still go to heaven, but they would be the number that was under the throne with palm branches. I believed that 2/3 of my life.

I was also taught that they were not completely saved because they did not have the name of Jesus pronounce over them in baptism, that you were only saved completely if you received the holy ghost, speaking in tongues, were baptized in Jesus name and also believed in holiness and lived it.

That has now changed, I won't get in to details today, but today I think both of the groups are wrong. When it comes to salvation. Jesus did not come to start another religion, he came to start a life style. There is not saved or unsaved, there is only a for or against. If you are not for him, then you are against him, it is about how you treat you fellow man.

All this theological debates may be fun but they are a waste of time, when it comes to what we are suppose to do. That is love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Thats odd Jesus had doctrine. Lots of it. The Apostles had doctrine and the Church continued steadfasly in it. Paul told Timothy, continue in the doctrine....you will save yourselves and them that hear you.

If one does not embrace the doctrine that Jesus has been made both Lord and Christ, they will not be saved. The Philippians accepted the things Philip preached concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ by being baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost.
