DOJ AG Eric Holder Wants to Speak With Press...

...off the record, of course.

Kudos to the AP, NYTimes, CNN and HuffPo for turning down the request unless it's available on the record.

Quote:
The Associated Press issued a statement Wednesday objecting to plans for the meetings to be off the record. "If it is not on the record, AP will not attend and instead will offer our views on how the regulations should be updated in an open letter," said Erin Madigan White, the AP's media relations manager.
Quote:
The New York Times is taking the same position. "It isn't appropriate for us to attend an off-the-record meeting with the attorney general," executive editor Jill Abramson said in a statement.
Quote:
Like the New York Times and the Associated Press, CNN will decline the invitation for an off-the-record meeting. A CNN spokesperson says if the meeting with the attorney general is on the record, CNN would plan to participate.
Quote:
The Huffington Post's Washington bureau chief, Ryan Grim, also said he will not attend unless the meeting is on the record. "A conversation specifically about the freedom of the press should be an open one. We have a responsibility not to betray that," Grim told CNN.

Re: DOJ AG Eric Holder Wants to Speak With Press..

The DNC's Brad Woodhouse stepped in it, by tweeting his displeasure that the media would be turning down the offers for the off-the-record meeting.

Quote:
POTUS asked AG to review how leak investigations are done but some in the media refuse to meet with him. Kind of forfeits your right gripe.—
That wasn't taken well by the media...

this is actually the spokesman for the Democratic National Committee > twitter.com/woodhouseb/sta…

Jake Tapper (@jaketapper)

Quote:
Holder/Woodhouse: We support the unfettered right of the press to report the facts.

Media: May we quote you?

H/W: No. Off the record.—
DepressiveBlogger69 (@AceofSpadesHQ)
Quote:
Media: You are accused of being too secretive.

H/W: That's absurd.

Media: May we quote you?

H/W: No. National security.—
DepressiveBlogger69 (@AceofSpadesHQ)
Quote:
Media: Some say you are too arrogant in your dealings with the press.

H/W: Speak up, it's hard to hear you from the closet.—
DepressiveBlogger69 (@AceofSpadesHQ)
Quote:
@AceofSpadesHQ If someone leaks his comments, LOOK OUT!—
Michael Dahmke (@michaeldahmke)
Quote:
great q from @michaeldahmke: if someone leaks Holder's off-the-record, confidential comments, will there be an investigation?—
DepressiveBlogger69 (@AceofSpadesHQ)
Quote:
@AceofSpadesHQ H/W: "I had very good reasons for seizing those phone records."
Media: "What are they?"
H/W" I can't tell you."—

Quote:
apparently @woodhouseb is planning to re-run Spiro Agnew's playbook against the liberal establishment media #genius—
DepressiveBlogger69 (@AceofSpadesHQ)
My favorite is this one:
Quote:
Somebody from @AP needs to call @woodhouseb on @JamesRosenFNC cell so we can read what they talked about in an IG report later.—

Awesome.

Re: DOJ AG Eric Holder Wants to Speak With Press..

They have backed and supported Obama's socialist agenda. If they pushed back on everything going on and not just this issue, I'd be really happy.

But, Eric will be thrown under the bus, dragged out and reassigned.

Jail is the only thing that will satisfy me. The way this country is operating, I am not looking for that to happen.

I hope the Republicans will push this and change the course of history. If they do, it will protect us from them when they take office.

Not holding my breath - oh ye of little faith.

Oh, I'm not feeling sad or sorry for the media. They helped elect Obama and did nothing to vet him; they even helped the WH fight against any conservative or Republican who would criticize Obama.

IMO, this is just desserts. This is them reaping what they've helped to sow.

As far as Holder...he'll live on. Obama isn't going to fire him, and he won't resign. Unless there's some smoking gun somewhere we haven't found that damns him, the WH will take care of him.

The only other hope is that Congress acts to impeach Holder. They're already investigating his testimony in which he possibly perjured himself. Proof that Holder is safe and protected by the WH is the WH's defense of Holder's testimony.

If it's proven that Holder perjured himself, I believe Congress is united enough against him to impeach him. Democrats are right along Republicans on this issue. I guarantee you they would like nothing more than to get these stains of the scandals Holder's been involved in off the Democrat Party.

And even if they impeach him, he'll have something else lined up. A university post or MSNBC anchor job.

The MSM are only angry because now their toes are being stepped on. If somehow their violation turns into a vendetta toward reporting all the other issues, it will be a good day in America. I was wondering if one day they would wake up and realize their Constitutional rights were being violated as well.

What works against the GOP, Issa in particular, is that they voted against some legislation ( Free Flow of Information Act of 2007) that Obama sponsored to protect the AP, et al.
