New Holy Ghost Filled Lessons??
Some of the Youth Adult class and I were talking last night about not just new converts but kids, pre-teens, and adults raised in church that receive the HG and aren't really a new convert... It seems people get the HG at our church and then don't know whats next, they are just dropped into the "club" and they may not speak in tongues for months or years after the first time. Generally its our kids 9-13 that have this problem - they aren't in youth group and are still too young to sit still through a whole service and drink in the preaching... Example - 12 yr old boy got the HG at youth convention last spring and has not spoke in tongues since, he comes and prays some, his parents are HG filled and he has attended our church since he was a toddler. After coming back from convention he chose to stay in the grade school class, because he didn't want to be the only kid his age in the youth group class (ages 13-19 big gap I know, but it's all the classroom space available) because all the teens are 16 and up currently. He's now 13 and still hasn't transitioned to our class because his friends are all in the other class... Another example - a 9yr girl got the HG back in August and hasn't been involved in a prayer/altar or worship session since... She has been raised in this church and her parents are HG filled as well. I'm not trying to pressure the kids into growing up but the YA class pointed out that the kids get the HG and nothing changes - they don't know how to mature in their walk with God so to speak. Is there any small groups or lessons that are used to teach newly holy ghost filled saints - not for new converts that cover oneness, standards, etc. because these kids have been raised in it and know the basics... I was just wondering if there was some lessons that are "I got the HF so now what?" themed. I would love to see a small group started for these spiritual babies and don't want to lose them come high school because they fell off the radar. My husband and I are the YA class teachers; so we work mainly with the older youth... Currently we have a large gap between preteens and teens the youngest Young Adult we have in our class is 16 and we have 2 13 yr old who have chosen to stay in the younger class because they want to stay with their friends ages 6-13 are now in this class... It's a huge gap and once these kids get the holy ghost they are still treated like little kids because predominately the 10-15 kids in that class are not HG filled so they are in a different place than these 2 newly HG filled kids. As a church we are starting to make changes and try to do small groups that are more specific to people's needs; so we don't really know where to look to find new materials. Currently we use class books from the UPCI and have for many many years now in all classes including the adult sunday school class in the sanctuary. So any new materials and resources would be greatly appreciated

Re: New Holy Ghost Filled Lessons??
What an excellent ministry this could be for the right people to start. Do you want them to speak in tongues primarily, or grow in the faith first?

Re: New Holy Ghost Filled Lessons??
In the churches I have been it seems to be a lack of teaching on the Baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Re: New Holy Ghost Filled Lessons??
I remember using a book written by J. T. Pugh, and available through the Pentecostal Publishing House at the time, don't know if it still is. But I believe the book was called "Victorious Christian Living" and basically what the book taught were the basics of understanding how to go on to live a victorious Christian Life after receiving the HG. It probably could be used as a guideline to teach pre-teens, teens, and then adults too.

Re: New Holy Ghost Filled Lessons??
Not questioning the intial Spirit baptism accompanied by tongues here...
But is it to be understood that not speaking in tongues regularly is detrimental to the faith and devoutness of Christian??
Are tongue speakers less carnal, more honest, and more devout?
Can we be honest here and acknowledge the even some of our leaders, including a one time General Superintendent, only spoke in tongues when initially Spirit-Filled?
I think a greater "problem" may be the veiw that Speaking in tongues is a short- cut for true discipleship and Christian education.
Those who dont speak in tongues with frequency should never be refered to as having "this problem". To even hint at such a thing can cause confusion and doubt in the body of Christ.
It could even be pride that would lead someone to make such a judgement.

Paul spoke very highly of speaking in tongues and said to "pray in the spirit always". Therefore I believe if one does.....he will be built up in the faith more than someone who does not.
But of course if one prays in tongues and takes no heed to the rest of Gods word they will still be lacking. As always the whole counsel of God is required to perfect a Christian.
