New Rules To Handle Debt Ceiling

Treasury is proposing new rules that congress should adopt in handling the debt ceiling. Under the proposed changes the president will request debt ceiling increase. congress will have 15 days to respond. if congress rejects increase, the president will be able to veto the resolution. then only a two thirds majority will be able to override veto and prevent a debt ceiling increase. NO MORE LEVERAGE FOR REPUBLICANS ON BUDGET ISSUES AND FAKE CRISIS.

Oh yes. Let's grant the president more power to spend money without accountability. That's what this country needs. Because we all know that if we don't borrow more money our economy can't improve.

The bill for this power was written by the minority leader Mitch MCconnly a Republican who ask for a up or down vote yesterday on the Senate floor, then filler busted his own bill. What a dork!

How can you borrow money you've already spent?

the debt ceiling is to pay for money already spent in bills already passed by congress. it is paying the government credit card, not for new spending.

So the money isn't actually spent, it's proposed and approved by Congress, then they have to raise the debt ceiling to borrow more to spend more.

Regardless, of the nuiances, it deepens our debt. Is the national debt a problem for you?
