Apparently, one can do bad things by simply taking a step.
I stepped off of a curb yesterday and heard and felt a pop in my calf. I made it across the 4 lanes, plus turning lane road before the pain hit me. I got home and visited Dr Google. Apparently, you can pull or strain, or even tear, a muscle in your calf this way. And apparently, my symptoms match up pretty nicely.
I've got a 3 day weekend to recover. Dr Google says the mildest strain would be greatly improved in a few days with all symptoms gone in 8 to 10 weeks.
I need 3 days to be enough time, and I need to be well enough to walk by Monday morning. I don't have a car and I walk just over half a mile one way to work, where I then work on my feet (fast food) for 7 to 8 hours a day.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

Hey Nahkoe... good to hear from you... bad to hear from you over these circumstances.
When you can apply alternating heat & cold in about 15 minute increments.

Yep, Dr Google definitely mentioned the pop symptom. I was most concerned about that, it seems so....bad. lol I googled "pop in calf when taking a step" and came up with the hits about straining a muscle, a few about ligaments.
No, I'm not sure it's not something that doesn't need further attention, but my checkbook is.

I did go to work yesterday, and today. By the time I got home yesterday, I wondered if it was really such a good idea. I hurt *everywhere* because of shifting my weight to my other leg all day.
Today, it seems things are actually healing pretty nicely.
I'm still taking it easy, I've got a ride to work in the mornings as long as I need it, and my roommate has been picking me up after work. I've been working one station as much as possible, not lifting or walking around any more than I need to. I'm so glad I work where I do, everyone's been more than wonderful when I say I simply can't do something.
I don't think this is going to be a super fast recovery, I'm just glad to be able to do what I need to do while I'm healing.
