In reading some posts of other threads I have read on more than one occasion people making comments about those who believe they can "control the weather."
They say it with a sarcastic tone....what's the big deal??????
In the Old and the New Testaments we see it. Elijah shut up the heavens and there was no rain for several years and in the New while on a boat Jesus rebuked the wind and the waves and caused a great calm then rebuked the disciples and called them "faithless" because they didn't do it.
I know personally when I was moving once and we had to get a truck unloaded and it was about to pour that I prayed that it wouldn't rain until we were finished. It didn't and when we were done I thanked the Lord and almost immediately after I thanked Him it poured.
The Bible states that with God all things are possible...so what's the big deal?????
I know of an Elder who was a prophet (since died) who told us many years ago how he was in the southern US during a Tornado that was heading straight for them.
He got out of the car pointed his finger at it and commanded it to go in , "Jesus Name."
Sure it can happen. I was in full time tent ministry for a few years. On a few occasions I have prayed that the rain would wait until I got the tent in the air or got rolled up and in the truck.
BUT...this is interesting.....
One time I was going to set up my power poll, It was a Suday and the power crews were to be there the next morning to run me an electric line. It looked like a tornado was coming. I kept praying and commanding the rain to turn and that I could get the poll set before it rained. The longer and harder I prayed the worse the weather looked. It came a downpour like no other; a very hard rain. I stopped at a truck stop to fill up and make sure all my team knew how to get to the lot. As I was leaving the lot I made a wrong turn and ended up on a very bumpy road. Suddenly I thought I was surrounded by smoke. It went all white. Glory cloud? No. My wife flew in front of me and slammed on her breaks. I almost hit her. I jumped out to let her have it--and check my breaks. She kept pointing under the truck and I could see she was scared speechless.
I looked under the truck--I was towing a camper trailer and the propane tank had come loose, rolled under the truck and burst. Propane gas was everywhere. And I had a full tank in the truck --50+ gallons of gasoline.
One spark and the whole thing would have blown. If the propane had blown no doubt the gas would have blown. I would have had an instant trip to glory. Not sitting typing today.
Thank God for NOT ANSWERING MY PRAYER THAT IT NOT RAIN. THE RAIN SAVED MY LIFE.
Just before leaving Wisconsin I said to myself "....I have never seen a tornado in person and now I guess I never will....".
An hour or so later we were driving and lo and behold, there was one next to us across a field!
I think much of what is deemed "weather control through prayer" has more in common with the kid who commands a bird to "fly away now!" -all the while move toward it until the bird does fly away..... the proudly proclaiming his command over nature.
You also remember all the times the weather seemed to obey you while conveniently forgetting ALL the times it didn't.
