For the Guys that Exercise for Bodily Appearance
As I mentioned on another thread, I'm here when I should be working towards my goals. One of those goals is to develope a strong and appealing physique. (not for draw attention to myself, but just for myself) My mine problem is and has always been motovation. I strongly desire the finished product, but I have not been able to be consistant working towards my goal. This is not something as easy as go to the gym and find a workout partner because I drive a truck for a living so I must find my motovation within myself because I can't go to the gym frequent enough. I have all I need to work out the upper body on the truck, so it's not an issue of not having the means. It's just not having enough will. Any advise with motovation for a guy that must go it alone (so to speak)?

Working out to look better is ok, just remember, no matter how good you look, how cut up (defined) you get, how trim, etc., there will always be people who are more fit, more trim, more cut, etc.
Work out because it will make you feel better, make you happier, make you less stressed, and make your clothes fit better.
If looking good is your only motivation, you will fail because it takes so long to see results. Take a photo now with your shirt off then look at it in 10 weeks, see how much progress you make...if you are really serious, if not, forget it.

Re: For the Guys that Exercise for Bodily Appearen
Hey Daniel. I have been going to the gym just about every morning for the past 4 months. I always take Sundays off. For me the one thing was getting a routine and sticking with it. As of now I have not started eat too different from before accept I find I eat better portions right now. Never do I get seconds etc. Again for me my routine is the same. I do switch exercises up from day to day, but I am at the gym usually by the same time every AM, with in about 5-10 minutes of the sametime every day. I am usually out of the gym and on my way to work about the sametime.
Being active and working is as much a mental thing as it is a physical thing. It takes a WHOLE lot more focus to set you goals and orient yourself to achieving them than it is to just do the workouts. One thing that I will stress that is VERY important especially with the job you have is eating the best you can. Not eating steak every night, but eating balanced meals that are portioned just so where you can take full advantage of you metabolism. High protein with a BALANCE of carbs. Also the next to the most important is a good cardio exercise. If you are a overnight trucker see if there is a way to bring a bicylce with you and before you rest go for a mile ride or jog. You will be amazed at how little it takes with eating better and doing cardio that your body will take shape. FYI my workouts are like this M and F I do upper body exercises, arms, chest, shoulders, etc. Tue.,Thurs., and Sat. are my cardio days, eliptical machine for 30 minutes roughly 7 mph gets you about 3.25-3.35 miles and about 350 burned calories. Wed. is my lower body exercises legs, back and abs. Each exercise I do consists of 6 sets like this, set of 12, increase weight set of ten, increase weight set of 8 increase weight and max at set of 6, the reset weight and do 12 set again wait 30 sec and then a final set of 12. So to recap it is 12,10,8,6,12,12. On cardio days after I do my exercise I try and shoot basketball or something to slow the heart rate but not drop immediatly cause that is dangerous. Hope this stuff helps.

I eat a very clean mostly vegetarian diet, I'm not much over weight (although I could stand to loose about 3 inches around my waist) I have the knowledge and know how to do to make it happen, but I lack one very important thing and that is motovation (I did alot better today than I've done in a few weeks) I even have a minature stair stepper in my truck for cardio but it sits mostly idle.
