My Heart Is Sad!

In hearing about the Myanmar Cyclone & China Earthquake 7 the devestation it has wrought has left me feeling grieved in my spirit.

With 15,000 dead & tens of thousands homeless in China & 38,000 dead & up to a million homeless with both numbers expected to climb, I am truly thankful to God for sparing us in North America from such momentous tragedies!

My mind can not comprehend the destruction that has transpired in the last couple of weeks in SE Asia.

For now I pray asking for divine mercy & count my blessings which are many.

Re: My Heart Is Sad!

I often wonder what the American Apostolic Church could do if we lived humbly, and wasn't in so much debt. The outreach potential in both these countries are tremendous. To be able to go in with food and distribute it would make a great impact in these peoples lives. But with our $1 million dollar church debts, our fancy cars, our expensive homes, we are in no place to send much food, or the 1000's of missionaries needed to distribute it.

Very true Stmatt.
That point of view is not popular though.

Reminds me of Ray Stevens song, "would Jesus wear a Rolex!"

Where are our priorities?

Ron, I had a thread requesting prayer for Burma. most didnt even open it.

we have thousands of Apostolic people in Burma that are affected. there were 12 towns that simply no longer exist there.

Raul Buai is the head of the UPCI in burma and some of his children live here in Dallas and attend my church. These are wonderful people and it is just a desperate situation there.

For some this is an exercise in reading a paper. I know some of these folks there in Burma and i know a lot more here who have family in Burma.

I don't know any from Burma, I know a lot more from China.
Nevertheless, I am still horrified at the immensity in disaster that has befallen them.
Many in China have lost children, for many it is thier only child as they are only allowed 1 child per family.

It sure doesn't help matters any that the government of Myanmar isn't letting the aid get to the people that desperately need it.

In the US, we take our freedom for granted. Our gov't might not always do as we think it should, but at least if something like this happened here-- I would like to believe that they would let other countries bring in aid to help.

Ferd, speaking for myself, I don't open every thread or even every prayer request. However, that doesn't mean I don't care about what's happening, or that I'm not praying for and about them.

Don't be disheartened at the lack of response...
