A Government Shutdown - Don't Panic

What Happens During a Government “Shutdown”?

The key fact, as the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) itself has said, is that when there is a short-term lapse in appropriations, “the federal Government will not be truly ‘shut down’…because Congress has itself provided that some activities of Government should continue.

Whenever one of these government "shut downs" occur, it seems the ONLY ones who truly don't show up for work are a few gov building tour guides. And of course the media always finds these few people along with a few pour boy scouts (who they HATE under any other circumstance) who didn't get to see the white house.

. . . . Oh wait.

The White House hates the Boy Scouts?

You can do better than that bro!

I remember in the 90's when another government shut down was threatened, I was Active Duty and stationed at Camp Geiger when I was told that we weren't going to get paid but that we shouldn't over-react because we didn't join up for the cash anyway. The tone of this briefing was serious and I really didn't expect to get paid.

I just read an article yesterday that spoke about the Affordable Health Care Act will have a positive effect in Florida-- lowering health insurance premiums to less than a hundred dollars per month for most people.

I hope the President doesn't back down and I hope that more and more people will become a little more honest about the good that will come from this new law.

Re: A Government Shutdown - Don't Panic

The media HATES the scouts. The scouts are one of the last bastions of rugged individualism in this country. They teach honor, self reliance, honesty, and good ol citizenship. The whole "help an old woman across the street" defines them along with survival skills.

EXACTLY the opposite group that the dems target.

The only time the media LIKES them is when they can use them on a photo op. Usually a photo of a couple of sad looking scouts standing outside of a closed Washington Monument in order to show the horrors of a government shutdown.
