I don't think God has any preference to America. Where do "we" get this notion that "we" are somehow God's favorite nation? But, that can be a different thread entirely.

Touching the "gays in the military" subject, I personally do not see the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy as wrong in principal or an attack on the "religious right". Let me back up a bit and say that I positively believe that homosexuality is clearly a sin against God. But, the government should not have the ability to prevent a person from serving in their military based solely on an entrance poll of that person's private life. Ever hear of Maranda?

Remember, the policy still requires the Pentagon to "separate from the armed services members who engage in or attempt to engage in homosexual acts, state they are homosexual or bisexual, or marry or attempt to marry a person of the same biological sex."

If the government finds you are homosexual, then you are out. Plain and simple.

We are wonderfully blessed by the Almighty God as a nation.

He has given our nation great strength, power and favor.

God loves all souls, but He did not allow Haiti, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Canada or any other nation in this region at this time in history to be as wealthy and powerful as America.

There's no God like our God.

There's no country like America.

And what if America is what it is because of the people who lived, breathed and died for the opportunity to make this nation what it is? What if God really had nothing to do with it and it's just one of those things that happened?

I don't buy into manifest destiny either.

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

I wouldn't say God has "nothing" to do with it; He has everything to do with everything, including the government. I do tend to agree though, that people's choices carry more impact on our history and our future than some kind of divine destiny.

During our nation's infancy, men feared God. Now, people more and more reject God.

I disagree with you, if you are making the statement that America is where America is absent the Grace and Power of the Almighty God!

At a bare minimum, one can clearly see that God allowed America to become the great nation she is today. It is my opinion however, that God has done more than just "allow" America to become great.
