Numbers in the bible?
Ok folks, I'm curious about the significance of numbers, if any, in the bible. Not bible code. I do not have a strong opinion on this one way or the other. I'm open to solid reading suggestions and your opinion. So what says you, is there some thing to numbers or is it a bunch of garbage? Thanks.

Im not sure what you mean. Are you talking about numerology?

I'm not sure it is numerology. But the number 40 and 7 sure comes up a lot. And from what I have read, it seems like a lot of people do a lot of guessing on the numbers.

How about the number 3? It too is used extensively.

You got me thinking (ha, ha), I had a major life changing event happen at year three at the beginning of this 7 year span Im referring to. Of coarse we could all think of events and try to match them up with numbers in the bible, but I had major, major events that have drastically effected my life and ministry. Now finally, after 7 years Im seeing how it all is working out for the good, beyond I ever thought possible. I think biblical numerics might prove out in this, maybe, we'll see.

I read a book before where the author believed that the number for the chapter and verse of the scripture ( John 1:1) had spiritual significance. I can not remember the name of the book, but the chapter and verse numbers were added much later. Interesting read but much of it seems like coincidence.
One thing he did explain well is what the numbers mean. Seven had a certain significance, six does also ect. ect. ect.
I use to be into bible codes but then I realized that hours of trying to crack a code was not helping me to grow in the Lord. The first and second commandment are real simple, there is no need to read more into it than is already there.

I am not into codes and number patterns hidden in scripture, but if someone was it goes to reason that you would need to look at ORIGINAL 1st generation scripture, as penned by the original author. How many of these even exist other than snippets of text here and there?
