Christian community
Philippians 2:9-11 (AV)
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Christian Community
The Amish and Mennonites are most well-known, along with the Hutterites, from the Anabaptist heritage.
Twelve Tribes communities, originally in Chattanooga and then Vermont in the 1970s have groups around the world.
Coming from a oneness heritage, Blair C. Adams (1944-2021) and Regina Adams brought forth what is now Homestead Heritage, starting as Voice in the Wilderness in NYC in 1973 and now making waves internationally. There is a hunger to fulfill community patterns and Blair brought a searching desire to move beyond Churchianity.
However, from a pure Bible perspective, Homestead Heritage has left Christianity. They have a core doctrine of “Yahweh-worship”. And a Holy Ghost understanding will show any Christian seeking truth that “Yahweh” == the devil Jupiter. Oops. (The accompanying “Yahshua” is only gibberish.) And the creepster called “Yahweh” is worshipped at Homestead as the Almighty with great zeal and energy, moanings, groanings, shoutings (largely hidden from the public, made known as their central focus only as newbies are drawn in.)
How can a Christian believer sing the songs of Zion in Babylon?
Babylon is where Yahweh-Jupiter reigns.
God forbid!
To support this dark-side error, Homestead Heritage has a Version praxis that is total confusion. While Blair was originally a pure King James Bible thunderous preacher, that is all long gone. There is no pure Bible authority, the plumb-line of faith is decayed and frayed. Homestead’s literature today is the exalted authority reading, and will give you a montage of mind-boggling verse numbers and short word-snippets from a dozen and more confusing and conflicting corruption versions. Then their followers are told they need “the Spirit” to really know what is a correct Version text, translation and interpretation. “The Spirit” in this case is a cute euphemism for their Elders, Writers and Ministry. And they enforce this with 100+ books and long, convoluted documents to read and even sign. Whew!
You definitely do not want your loved ones to face Eternity with “Yahweh” being exalted.
The word of God will give you many verses and sections showing you that JESUS is our Saviour. And if you desire to call on the name of the Father, the Tetragram, JHVH will give you Jehovah. And the LORD is perfectly fine. Jesus and Jehovah are the true names for entering our Eternal redemption! (Accept no crafty and subtile substitutes.)
Thank you, Jesus!
Hallelujah!
==========
Could Homestead today change into a Christian fellership? There was a time where it seemed like a possibility, but today they are hardened in fundamental rebellion.
===========
Twelve Tribes has analogous error. They will even avoid the name of Jesus. So a Bible-believer just has to say … nope. A limited visit, perhaps, but no prayer times without Jesus.
============
So when will there be a remnant that seeks the patterns and blessings of truly Christian community? Without falling into the ditches. Please understand, I believe that Jesus is calling forth such a remnant. Deep calleth unto deep.
One reason for sharing all this?
To stir the pot, to encourage more prayer and fasting and sharing.
To help discernment, to break spiritual log-jams!
============
Acts 4:10-12 (AV)
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel,
that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead,
even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders,
which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.
===========
Your thoughts most welcome!
Blessings and grace in the precious name of Jesus!

Re: Christian community
Now, some readers may feel that ‘prayer’ (?), moaning, groaning, shouting to “ohhh, yahwehhhh” is perfectly acceptable. (Reminds me of the frenzy of the prophets of Baal (cohort of Jupiter) in opposition to Elijah, the servant of the LORD, Jehovah). And also some might be comfortable referring to “Yahweh Almighty” as their Supreme Being. (Leaning on modern liberal and unbelieving, buffeted scholastic sophistry.) Or changing / mangling worship songs like “Days of Elijah” to the chorus lyrics “no God but Yahweh”, while Robin Marks, the songwriter, had written the powerful and beautiful and sonorous, melodic “No God but Jehovah” in the actual song chorus!
Similarly, many readers today may be totally comfortable not having a pure and perfect Bible. (A common trap today in Christian circles to various degrees.) And relying on “the Spirit” (the elders) and the Homestead literature to help muddle through. The Homestead claim - We (the Spirit) will tell you, as needed, what is the actual Greek NT text, what is the proper English wording and what is the true intpretaion.
Bye, bye Sola Scriptura!
Bye, bye pure and perfect Bible!
Then, if you still feel that Homestead is a go, you can just thank me for pointing out these concerns. At least you have been informed in advance! (Something Homestead will only do as clear as mud.) You can and must do your own due diligence.
If you can sluff off these Christian and Bible and Jesus-centric concerns Homestead may be an attractive life and community and church alternative. They are maneuvering and working hard to gain acceptance from Oneness orgs, including the UPCI. Even while their Acts 2:38 doctrine is shipwrecked. They have gotten rather skilled in taking over charismatic and Pentecostal groups who are drawn to their community patterns and glib doctrinal explanations.
A clarion call, a trumpet in Zion, has been blown!
===========
MOVING FORWARD IN JESUS!
However, many here might want to learn from the excellent parts of Homestead, and avoid their snares. Let us welcome refugees that had their Christian love and grace mangled by the “new light” in Homestead. (There are additional major problem but the focus here is on two.)
Then let us seek the development of true Bible-believing, Christian community!
With a nod of thanks to the original purity and vision and anointing that was upon Blair Adams!
==========
In Jesus name!
Steven

Re: Christian community
I don’t even know anyone IRL who’s heard of this group.

Re: Christian community
Greetings Elder.
What would you say are common errors of those who leave the ranks of the UPCI in search of a more biblical, less pagan practice, in terms of leadership, doctrine, worship, and fellowship?

True, the 15 people who post here are probably safe from Homestead.

Re: Christian community
There are many good elements at Homestead Heritage, which may touch the hearts of people searching for truly Christian community. Good for study and acceptance, in context.
They are also making a major effort to be accepted in Oneness circles. David Bernard spoke there twice, and various other connections, including Austin and Alexandria.

Re: Christian community
You mention the Mennonites. I live in an area pretty much dominated by Mennonites. There is such a thing as the "Mennonite Mafia", and yes it is international.

Re: Christian community
As an FYI, there was some controversy when Rory Feek, a Gospel singer known mostly from Joey and Rory (Joey passed years back) joined up with Homestead.
A negative article was published, and they ended up suing Taste of Country magazine, the author of the article, and a daughter or two. Hiring hot-shot Alabama lawyers.
Homestead was particularly incensed that they were called a cult and some material from 2012, that they claim was defamatory, was repeated in the article.
