Re: When was the first North American Youth Congre

This will be my 2nd. I was at the one in Kansas city. Money has a big part in whether i am able to attend or not as my family was not wealthy enough to send me other years or I did not have enough one myself other years.

I also may yet give up my slot for another younger person in the youth group if necessary. We are only taking 40 this year. I am 26 after all.

Well, you should prayerfully consider keeping your slot. Make sure you're in the will of God before you decide. You might need this.

If my youth pastor suggests it. I will gladly give it up. I have already told him I will if he wants. I meant 26 years old.

Youth Congress worries me. Cortt Chavis preached a message a few years ago at Congress that changed my life. " Divine Balance Between the Fork and the Field"

Have we come to enjoy the hype and etc associated with large events so much that we allow that to fuel our relationships with God. I have an idea, have Congress on Wednesday and Thursday and then send all 20,000 people into the streets to show the love of Jesus. How can 20,000 Apostolic's gather in one place and not completely turn that city upside down?

Actually NAYC has incorporated personal evangelism and community service into the conference. It's called Project 22:39, and is based on Matthew 22:39.

The General Youth Division is proud to facilitate the fifth Project 22:39 event in the host city of North American Youth Congress. This community give-back project is inspired by Matthew 22:39 [And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself]. Join hundreds of students Friday afternoon in personal evangelism initiatives and community service projects by sharing the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ with Oklahoma City.

Interesting! I wonder why they decided to resume having it in different places other than St. Louis. Maybe this means the money problems have been resolved.

I remember the last time GC was in Nashville. It was 1999 and we visited one night to see old friends. Now 15 years later a lot of those friends have also left the Ark so I am not sure how many I will see but I will go at least one night.

A good chance to see in person some folks I may not have seen for a few decades and get to hear another sermon about "holding the fort"!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: When was the first North American Youth Congre

So, it is better to criticize something that is small rather than rejoice that something is being attempted? How many people were in Jerusalem when the day of pentecost occurred? and how many people were intially affected? and what was the final tally of people affected?

Let's not criticize small things even if they are happening while something bigger is happening. Not everyone has an understanding of service... not everyone loves to serve... let's rejoice in the obedience of those that do instead of condemning those that don't....
