I haven't read the book yet although I have had it for awhile, but I think it is about Two Babylons.

I've had it on my website for years, too.

Alexander Hislop I think is the author. The TBs compares the Roman Catholic church and Babylon in parallels...for example he shows a trinity from babylon and other early pagan religions. He shows other similarities....

Here is an example
"The two-horned mitre, which the Pope wears,
when he sits on the high altar at Rome
and receives the adoration of the Cardinals,
is the very mitre worn by the priests of Dagon,
the fish-god of the Philistines and Babylonians."
- The Two Babylons ; Alexander Hislop; p. 215

http://www.xanga.com/Babylon_The_Gre...2225/item.html

The hat the popes wear looks like a fish. Hislop claims this came from earlier pagan religions.

From my own perspective this I know. Rome was steeped in Paganism. They had Mithra and the State Roman religion where the Emperor was the High Priest over the college of priests. His title was Pontifex maximus...which later popes took as an official title

Hislop shows that all the rituals and beliefs that the Roman Catholic Church practices, that are not found in the Bible, are actually originally from ancient pagan religions.

Praying The Rosary
Statues of mother and child
Nuns
Monks
Mother worship of Mary

etc. etc
