Anyone remember a group called "The Redeemed"

I had an old cassette tape I wore out listening to in the late 70's early 80's.
A couple of the songs on the Album were...
They've Gone Home
Falling in Love
and one that has the chorus..

You can't make a Graveyard strong enough
That can hold my body down
Cause when the Good Lord calls me
I'm gonna get up out of the ground

You can spread my ashes over the sea
far beyond the reaches of man
Cause the good Lord will find the pieces
And he will take me to the promise land.

Sound familiar to anyone?? I want to see if they are still singing, or have any newer material.

Sounds like Richard Gazowskis group out of Voice of Pentecost in San Francisco. His group was called "Richard and the Redeemed" You might be able to get a copy of that alnum on cde if you call the church.

Yes, that is Richard. I know because he is my cousin.

Re: Anyone remember a group called "The Redeemed"

Nothing like posting on an old thread, but here goes: Richard and the Redeemed started in the early 1970's, but they were known, originally, as the Singing Redeemed. The original trio consisted of founders Larry Castro -baritone/guitar, wife Pam Castro - Alto, and Sandy Costa - soprano.

Pam left Larry and the Redeemed not long after Sandy Costa married Richard Gazowsky. Richard joined the trio, bringing his distinctive tenor voice and his songwriting. Not long after this, Richard decided to add a bass singer to the mix and he brought in a 16 year old bass singing phenom named Chris Becker (me.) During my two years or so in the Redeemed, Larry Castro remarried and moved to West Virginia and I was briefly considered for a slide up to baritone, and Julie Parrish was considered as the new alto, but Richard's brother Preston Gazowsky was hanging around our practice and he volunteered to be the new baritone/guitarist.

When I left in 1977, I was replaced by Craig Chivis - bass singer, then Preston left and was replaced by Julie Parrish. When Craig left he was replaced by Dewey McClure. When Dewey left, he was not replaced. The trio line-up that most of you know as Richard and the Redeemed: Richard Gazowsky, Sandy Gazowsky, and Julie Parrish, was solidified at that time. I lost touch with them in the early 1980's, so I don't know about their later history.

They didn't record their first record until I left and Craig Chivis was in the group, or at least Craig was on the jacket photo. It sounded like me on that album, and we'd done quite a bit of recording, but then again Craig was picked to replace me because he knew all my parts and we sounded identical. Who knows?

Praying for the Gazowsky family today. Received word this morning that Preston passed. Not sure of the details.
