Would an exit of Ultra Cons make the UPC more appealing to outsiders and ex-UPCers?
What do you think? Will it make the UPC as a whole are more "friendly" org?

Is the UPC not friendly?

My hope and prayer.

I don't think the Org will really change at all as a whole...maybe some hotspots like UC California will see an impact....but at the same time, there will be enough UCs stay to keep it about the same...IMO.

Somehow, IMO, the question seems similar to "Do you still beat your wife?"

Ok, will it make it seem more welcoming to those that previously felt it was unwelcoming. Obviously we have had a number of UPC members leave in the past that felt the org was too imposing etc etc

I would say "yes" - HOWEVER, I'm picturing a scenario where those with extreme attitudes and extreme "standards" are gone and not all of them would necessarily be considered "UC's."
So basically, to be honest, I am saying if the UPC could be just the way I like it- then I'd be happy with it. But when I say that out loud I end up sound rather shallow, even to myself. We need a complex mix of people.
The movement does need to mature. We need to get over all of the cranky and silly things that hold us back. Just google the phrases "UPC" and "cult." All of the examples of wackiness that come up are so-called UC's trying to enforce their standards. And none of the "offenders" are in the UPC any longer.
What does that tell you? It tells me that "the world" and Evangelical Christianity in general has developed their generally negative opinions of the UPC based not upon the UPC itself, but upon the fringe UC.

Time will tell. It should definitely make it more unified than in recent years.
If the conservatives and my prediction comes true and this is the beginning of the UPC moving away from the leglaism I believe a UPC church strong on Acts 2:38 but moving away from the extrabiblical legalism could experience a true revival and see a lot of people baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Spirit.
As it stands now most UPCers are either born into it or from such desperate gross sin that the extra biblical leglaism is either something they have been around all their life or they come from lives so unstructured they welcome the over correction as a safety net that is a visible guage of their change and standing with God. Doesn't even require you to think!

Yes. I think the recent events hold hope for a possibility of revisiting a core foundational purpose being a ministerial alliance. IMO, the "letter" has been used in such a way as to create a quasi-denomination. That trend is probably at least on hold while KH has a majority/confidence vote.

Looks like I should clarify my answer.
I think many hardliners appear unfriendly because of their radical stances on issues.
The idea that someone is going to toast in hell because of sleeve length, viewing moving pictures, or their nonconformity to precise dress code and hairstyle is not only unfriendly and appalling to those outside the UPC - many on the inside are also disgusted with it.
Whether these attitudes will be shed from the UPC anytime soon is anyones guess.
