The Affirmation Statement Comes Full Circle
The amended version of the 2007 AOF allows for television advertising and ministry.
Is a minister who signs the AS, and then preaches against advertising or ministering on television, lying?
Brutally cruel irony.

Seriously, no one can sign the affirmation without "lying". I think that should be understood by all.

I'm trying to figure out how you can say that.

Brother,
On this one I'm a little ignorant, is this part of AOF, or just part of the bylaws?
If this is the case, no wonder the cons are upset and many are leaving. This would put them in a precarious position.
Thankfully, I can live with it either way.

The vast majority disagree with something in the articles of faith. The articles of faith say that the preachers must oppose the bearing of arms in war. How many actually believe that and teach it?

Two points.
1. The classic conservative argument has been that TV is part of the AOF and therefore affirmed with a signature on the AS.
2. If previous conservative logic is applied consistently, anyone who disagrees with advertising and preaching on television would be lying if they signed the AS.

I get frankly tired of the accusations of lying. Well, I guess that's one reason we're out. <shrug>
