I knew while reading your post that it was clearly written TIC. I would suppose that there would be many who would ignore a "business" platform with proven success based solely on the evidence that he was a Trinitarian. I posted this thread hoping that there were still many who could see that the world around has changed drastically even in the last ten years and we should be looking for ways to advance our strategies of evangelism and not allow them to become relics of yesterday.
I have read some opinions that door knocking was still an effective outreach tool and why should we utilize the medium of television since it wouldn't be worth the cost. Dr. Kennedy, who I have always admired though he was a staunch Presbyterian and conservative to boot, had proven that personal evangelism shouldn't be discarded entirely for he witnessed to those attending to him while he was dying. He did recognize that television had potential to reach a GLOBAL audience and it was through that medium that his ministry was established in 220 countries.
I won't downplay door knocking, because I have felt given where you live, it could still be effective. For instance, in rural communities, people tend to be more open to those around them and not having their vision fixed so they won't attract crime or other problems.
The reality in the inner city where I live would be you would be lucky if someone didn't call 911 or chase you off with dogs and a 45. There would be more possibility of those living in the city of channel surfing and coming across an anointed message of truth than for me to get my foot in the door. The year 2007 is much different than the eighties and early nineties when I would spend my Saturday's canvasing the streets and knocking on doors.
If we are to reach the whole world with this gospel what would be the plan for 2008? Would the souls of the hundreds of thousands of shut-ins be on our hands because the only outlet presented to them as far as religious broadcasting would by Jan and Paul Crouch or some other ministry that doesn't present what we hold as TRUTH?
If we believed in the plan of salvation than wouldn't it be our responsibility to utilize every tool available to ensure that the commission that was given to us would be fulfilled?
What troubles me greatly is potentially losing the opportunity to reach those that we cannot see or reach because of their circumstances of life.
