I have it but haven't used it hardly at all so probably can't be of much help to you. I downloaded it because my son had reformatted the hard drive and that removed all my programs of course.

We just recently installed Microsoft Office Word 2007.

It's a decent office suite. Not as good as Micropuke, but it can and does import many other formats. Sometimes the formatting is off though.

There was a paid version once that was really purty...looked as good as MS

I have a lot of experience with Open Office as that is all I use. They also have a commercial version you can pay for (the pretty version refered to above) at Sun Microsystems.

Here is the url for that in case anyone is interested:

BTW, Open Office can product PDFs without installing Acrobat. It can also read other formats such as Microsoft formats, GNU formats, Word Perfect Formats etc...

Plus it is free. Comes with a Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Drawing Program, Presentation Software, Database Manager, and others.

A large community of support is available online as well. Plus various books from various publishers detail the suite as well.

www.openoffice.org is the url.

A lot of Apps nowadays can make PDFs....my 2007 Publisher will do it too. The problem is it won't open a current PDF file and edit it, which would be nice since our newsletter editor does not seem to know how to reduce the file sizes of the newsletters I put on our website....ugh...5-7 megs is just too much., though probably not for a PDF file. Some peeps with dialup just won't wait

I have not used Star Office... just know it exists. I prefer Open Office, primarily because I'm a big believer in Open Source software. I also like Linux, and this is one of the best suites for Linux users.
