Abundance...Coming Your Way
1- Is the scripture below ( Deut 8 ) applicable to our lives today? Why? Or why not?
2- Does God pay any mind to our financial growth?
3- Is his hand involved in our financial increase or is that solely up to us?
4- Just as God would like for us to develop spiritually, does he want us to develop financially as well?
I appreciate the feedback...I dont have answers, I just have questions.
“So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills. It is a land of wheat and barley; of grapevines, fig trees, and pomegranates; of olive oil and honey. It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking. It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills. When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
“But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock! He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.
“But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed. Just as the Lord has destroyed other nations in your path, you also will be destroyed if you refuse to obey the Lord your God.
Also, in light of the questions above, how does this scripture below apply?
Luke 6: "Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back"
Luke 6: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

1. IMO Yes
2. Yes we are commanded to be good stewards; all we have belongs to him we are here just to manage
3. Yes his hand is involved Malachi 3:10, he promises to open the windows of heaven
4. Check out crown.org . There are over 2,000 scriptures about finances, so yeah I think its important
About Luke 6, I believe that you can't receive with a closed fist. You must open it (giving) and you shall receive!
Again check out the link above, I hear his radio program everyday, and I'm doing the Money Map. I think he's great!

The premiere fashion it is overdone, is when the teacher stands to profit from the teaching.

Thanks so much, Darcie for your input and the resource link. About 10 years ago, before Crown merged with CFC (Christian Financial Concepts), I used to listen to Larry Burkett so much...I learned so much from him...was sad when I heard he passed away. I'm sure Dayton has done a fine job, but I have not listened to Crown since Burkett passed onto eternity. I'll have to revisit it...I subscribed to CFC newsletter for several years...they set a strong foundation for me regarding money matters.

...can you help me sort through the questions I have...seriously. As I said, I dont have answers, I have questions.
You have asked in the past, Does God want me to be rich...I said "I dont know"...but I am sure I want me to be wealthy.

I believe in the prosperity message that the bible teaches. I do not believe that you give to gain. It is a matter of the position your heart is in. I give liberally because I want to be a blessing to others. I have not always had abundance, and sometimes didn't know how I would pay the next bill. But God has always been faithful. I went to preach at one church, and started running out of gas about 2 or 3 miles away from the church. This was in the mountains of NC, and I had one big hill to climb before getting to the church. My car literally coughed and sputtered all the way up the hill and ran out as I turned into the church parking lot. I coasted into a parking spot. I went in and during prayer told the Lord my need. I preached, and they didn't give my an offering (I guess because I was good friend with them). But some old lady saint came up to me before leaving the church, and slipped $20 into my hand. After church they found out that I didn't have gas, and got some gas from the lawnmower building so I could get to the gas station. The Pastor followed me there to make sure I made it.
The faith life is an adventure that cannot be described. For most of us, we have increased to a place where faith for living is not really needed. but I have seen God move greater in my life when I had little, than when I have had much.

Can you elaborate further on these statements, Matt

Thank you, St. Matt for the neat gasoline story...glad you made it.
I understand what you mean about not giving in order to get back. But it seems that the scripture reference in my initial post found in Luke says that our giving has a direct correlation to what we receive in return (I realize that the motive should not be here), but it seems that it is a by-product of our giving...why does Christ emphasize this getting back stuff with regards to giving...is it there to serve as an incentive although not as the underlying motive? Again, just trying to ask honest questions...please help me understand.

God seems to be giving the green light on financial growth and abundance with the caveat to keep our attitude in check:
"For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful! Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt."
