The Parable of the Fence

This came to me in a dream a few nights ago. (I guess this means I'm an old man!) I debated on posting this for a few days, but I decide to go ahead! Fire away!

Quote:
A great king decided one day to divide 100 acres of land equally between ten families as a reward for their service.

Each 10 acres of land was surrounded by a fence. There was a farmhouse in the middle of each, and the king requested that each family plow the land around the farmhouse and present the harvest to him in the fall.

Beyond the fence were weeds that could easily spread and choke out the good harvest planted in the land that was given to each family by the king.

As an extra guard against the unwanted weeds spreading to their harvest, a few families only planted a few rows of seeds which would be too far inside the fence for the weeds ever to reach before harvest. Their harvest would be completely safe from the bad weeds.

Other families planted more rows of seeds but still a good distance from the fence. A few weeds might reach the good harvest, but they figured they could pull the few bad weeds out and benefit the king with more harvest.

A few more families planted rows of seeds within a few feet of the fence. A lot more hard work would be needed to pull out the weeds that would most certainly choke out their harvest, but the extra harvest would make the king happy!

One family decided to sow rows of seeds all the way to the fence! They knew that very few of the harvest plants that were planted near the fence would survive. They worked feverishly all throughout the year pulling the bad weeds and watering the few good plants that somehow survived.

When harvestime came, this family had more bushels of harvest to present to the king than any of the other families.

Which families was the king most pleased with? Although they presented the king with a quality crop, the families that only planted far away from the fence presented far less harvest to the king.

Very interesting.

Why not plow up the weeds on the other side of the fence in defense of the crop?

Good thought, but it could be someone elses property!

Your dream is actually scriptural, Jesus himself said to let the good seed and the weeds grow up together, and in the harvest the weeds would be removed.

Thanks for the encouragement! I debated in my own mind if I should post this. I'm expecting it to be ripped to shreds!
