"Let It Go" by TD Jakes

A sister brought this up last night in small group, anyway thought I would share it here.

LET IT GO IN 2007 by TD Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you, and will. And hear me when I tell you this: When people can walk away from you, let them walk.

I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you, being your friend. I mean: hang up the phone!!!!

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody who left. The Bible said, "they went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that! none of them were of us." (I John 2:19) People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.

Let them go. It doesn't mean you are a bad person. It just means their part in the story is over. You've got to know when people's part in your story is over so you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over.

Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift. I believe in good-bye. I'm not hateful, I'm faithful and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me.

Stop begging people to stay....LET THEM GO!!!!

If you are holding on to something which doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to ....LET IT GO.

If you are holding on to past hurts and pain....LET IT GO.

If someone can't treat you right, love you back! and see your worth....LET IT GO.

If someone has angered you....LET IT GO.

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge....LET IT GO.

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addition...LET IT GO.

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents...LET IT GO.

If you have a bad attitude....LET IT GO.

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...LET IT GO.

If you're stuck in a past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him....LET IT GO.

If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try and help themselves.....LET IT GO.

If you're feeling depressed and stressed....LET IT GO.

If there is a particular situation you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying, "Take your hands off of it," then you need to.....LET IT GO.

Let the past be the past.

Forget the former things.

GOD is doing a new thing in 2007 - LET GO of the former things!!

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Happy moments, praise God

Difficult moments, seek God.

Quiet moments, worship God.

Painful moments, trust God.

Every moment, than God.

"Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character".

Whenever you think God has stopped listening or caring for you, didn't follow through on His promises

or didn't answer your prayer(s),

you most likely:

1. misinterpreted the promise,
2. missed the answer, or
3. gave up before God responded.

God ALWAYS does what He said He would!!!!!!!!!

- Success is simply the ability to outrun failure.

I have that one. He talks about the spirit of "good-bye." It's an awesome sermon!

I haven't heard the sermon, but from the sound of the words, there seems to be a strong spirit of independence saying in effect, "I don't need you, I am self sufficient without you, so if you want to take a hike, don't let the door hit you in the butt."

I've seen too many marriages break up from that attitude. People start playing those "I can get along just fine without you," games. It is ugly in its core.

Am I mistaken about the attititude concealed in those words?

Not sure Elder.

Hebrews 12
14Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

My dad used to say, "Don't let the door hit ya, where the good Lord split ya!"

Yes, I believe you are mistaken.

What would you have one do if their spouse says "I'm leaving"? Beg them to stay? Grovel? Beat themselves with chains and plead for mercy?

Sorry... I didn't do that. I let her go. I will hold no one hostage.

If she refused to listen to God and stay and try and work things out, then how loud does my voice have to be for her to hear me? Bottom line is she wouldn't.

All we can do is let them go.

I love the heart of a true shepherd...

Ninety and nine were safe in the fold
ninety and nine though the night stormy and cold
then said the shepherd while counting them o'er
One sheep is missing, there should be one more

I forget the rest of the words, but the shepherd left the 99 that were safe in the fold and went through the stormy night looking for that one lost sheep.

How shall I ever forget the painting of the sheep stranded on the side of a dangerous ledge, ready to fall into a deep canyon as the shepherd, holding on to a fragile bush with the hook of his staff stretches as far as he can to reach the wandering sheep.

In the church, we do not need an INDEPENDENT spirit.

I believe his message was directed at the ones that continue to hold on to past hurts to the point that it cripples them.

His message was to "let it go" so that you can move on.
