Yes, it is. I believe it was the Apostle Peter who said, "Stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance." To keep from getting complacent in our
souls we need to remind ourselves over and over of what the Lord has
done in our lives.
Looking back at that time in my life, I remember that I attended two churches
that summer as a result of a friend inviting me. I was not interested in
church. My only reason for going in each case was to be with a girl.
The first girl carried me to a Church of Christ. I remember very little about
that visit, except that the minister preaching was very boring.
The second girl invited me to her mother's church which was Pentecostal.
It was during the summer in a rural area, so each of these churches were
having their summer revivals. Needless to say, from the start of the service
I didn't think the Pentecostal church was boring.
In fact I
remember that I thought it was all very humorous. I watched as people
lifted their hands, prayed out loud, and praised God in loud voices. This
was all funny to me. I almost laughed aloud, but when the minister got in
the pulpit and began to preach, this was when the Spirit visited me, and I
felt something that I had never felt in my life. My whole perspective of the
service changed instantaneously. How many times I have wished that every
first time visitor in our churches would fell what I felt that night.
