I Thought I met Toof Today

We were eating at a restaurant and saw a bunch of Toof's family that we know at a family reunion. (I don't know what Toof looks like). I asked someone where he was, by name, and they told me to go outside and he would be sitting there with a straw hat on. Well, I went out and talked to this older gentleman and told him that I had enjoyed talking to him on the internet, etc.,etc. He acted kind of strange, and finally he realized that I wanted to meet his son!!! They have the same name. I was totally embarassed, as he probably thought I was hitting on him. LOL! A young lady, probably a granddaughter was looking at me like I was a total weirdo.

He doesn't know this but I'll confess ... but a similar thing happened to me a few months ago after having a drag out w/ MF ... or "retsambeW" ... on a different forum and I sought to apologize personally.

I looked him up in the org online ministers search and found a minister by that name ... I called up ... and proceeded to apologize ... the minister had no idea who I was or about the forum ...

We did wind up talking for over a half hour ... he was an elderly gentleman ... and had many questions about what the nature of these forums was about ...

to my surprise this minister admitted that many of his own minister cohorts have been discussing things like standards ... and confessed that HE AND MANY OF THEM FELT THEY WERE EXTRABIBLICAL ... He felt the time had come that the org address these issues.

I bid him adieu but was shocked to hear an org minister share his thoughts on this hot button topic with so much candor to a total stranger.

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall...

Knowing his dad I can see the look on his face. Toof will sincerely appreciate this post.

Well, I never got to see Toof himself. He was golfing and hadn't shown up at the reunion yet when I left! So I still wouldn't know him if I saw him!!! But it was good to see some of his other family that I hadn't seen in years. One gal, married into his family, used to have a daycare and my son stayed there for several years when he was really little. I showed her his picture today at 18, and she could not believe it!! Toof has a huge family and a bunch of great folks! However, I hope I don't run into the elder Toof again!

I did you the favor of calling Toof and reading your post to him. By the time I was finished he was laughing harder than I was.

He really is a great guy with a great family. Wish you could have actually met him.

I told him to tell you that Sherri Cupples said hi, but he may have been too shook up to remember. LOL!

When we have reunions, and we have them every year, we have to block off entire floors. This year about 70 rooms were reserved and several members of our family weren't able to attend.

My dad has 15 brothers and sisters, 16 including himself. Ten are still living.
